UPEI Founder, retired faculty member, and conservationist Daryl Guignion passes away
The entire University of Prince Edward Island community was saddened to learn of the passing of UPEI Founder and retired faculty member Daryl Guignion on February 8, 2021. The flags in front of the Kelley Memorial Building have been lowered to half-mast in his memory.

As Reading Week approaches (February 15-19, 2021), I would like to remind you of the direction from the Prince Edward Island Chief Public Health Office (PEI-CPHO) that travel off-Island is not recommended and should be for essential reasons only.

The Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development at the University of Prince Edward Island is partnering with the Centre d’excellence en français (CEF) on campus to provide French proficiency training for the Public Service Commission of Prince Edward Island..
Connecting generations at a time of disconnection
A student in UPEI’s MBA in Global Leadership program is helping connect generations during an era of isolation due to COVID-19. Kristina Butler has created a pen pal group called “A Pen for Your Thoughts,” connecting students from Queen Charlotte Intermediate School in Charlottetown and residents living at the Garden Home and at Whisperwood Villa. The project is part of the UPEI MBA in Global Leadership program’s service-learning leadership experience in its global leadership and ethics course.
AVC Class of 2023 benefits from donation of DASIE surgical models
Students in AVC’s Class of 2023 are taking a big leap forward in their veterinary education this semester when they begin their hands-on technical training. An important part of their training is developing and practicing suturing skills using DASIE surgical models donated by Boehringer Ingelheim.

Shoot for the Cure shifts to digital campaign for 2021
U SPORTS, the governing body for university sport in Canada, has announced that the 14th edition of Shoot for the Cure will be held virtually during the week of February 1 to 7, 2021.
Organized since 2007 in collaboration with the U SPORTS Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association, the fundraising initiative raises money for the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) and other related local and provincial charities to help fight breast cancer.
