Good things come in threes: UPEI cross country recruits a trio of star runners from Colonel Gray

When Mike Peterson agreed to return as UPEI’s cross country head coach in the summer of 2019, his first order of business was to retain Prince Edward Island’s best talent. He has done just that, recruiting a trio of strong runners from Charlottetown’s Colonel Gray High School: twin sisters Katie and Grace Richard, and Maya Abou ElNaja

UPEI Panther Pitch competition

This year, the University of Prince Edward Island launched the first-ever UPEI Panther Pitch competition as part of the Harry W. MacLauchlan Entrepreneurship Program. In January, twenty-five student teams were chosen to compete for support to develop their ventures. Since the competition launch, these teams have been receiving coaching from experienced mentors and refining their business plan to potentially win a portion of $45,000 in prize money to support their startup ventures.

Three UPEI projects supported by PEI Climate Challenge Fund

The province of Prince Edward Island announced the recipients of its Climate Challenge Fund on Thursday, February 25. Three of the projects are led by scholars at the University of Prince Edward Island. The fund is designed to help Islanders adapt to climate change, develop new technologies and opportunities, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in innovative ways.

UPEI athletes and events recognized at the 47th annual Sport PEI Amateur Sport Awards

UPEI was well represented in the list of winners at the 47th annual Sport PEI Amateur Sport Awards ceremony. The annual event was held Thursday night at the Confederation Centre of the Arts’ Homburg Theatre.

UPEI’s Women’s Basketball team was named the CBC PEI Team of the Year. The Panthers had a historic season in 2019–2020, winning the AUS title and taking home bronze at the U SPORTS national championships.

MBA in Global Leadership student making a difference in Nigeria

A student in UPEI’s MBA in Global Leadership program has created a project to help feed and educate children in an internally displaced person (IDP) camp in Abuja, Nigeria. Abisola Erinosho, an international student from Nigeria, created the Educate A Child initiative as part of the service learning leadership experience in the global leadership and ethics course.
