2020 U SPORTS Cavendish Farms Women’s Hockey Championship begins Thursday

UPEI is proud to host the 2020 U SPORTS Cavendish Farms Women’s Hockey Championship! The puck drops for the tournament’s opening game on Thursday, March 12, at 3 pm and wraps with the gold-medal game on Sunday, March 15, at 6 pm!

The Panthers enter the tournament seeded eighth of eight teams. They kick off their tournament on Friday with a 7 pm match up with number-one seed University of Alberta. The game will feature a performance by Island musicians, twins Ava and Lily Rashed.

Guest lecture: Post-Colonia Literature of Portuguese Africa

The Department of Modern Languages, the Master in Global Affairs program, and UPEI’s Spanish Club are pleased to present a lecture by Dr. Lúcia Helena Marques Ribeiro, entitled “Literatura pós-colonial da Africa Portuguesa: Uma visão de dentro” (Post-Colonial Literature of Portuguese Africa: A Vision from Within). The lecture will take place on Monday, March 16, at 7 pm in room 246 of UPEI’s Don and Marion McDougall Hall.

Two public talks in the Asian Studies International Seminar/Korean Studies Speaker Series

The UPEI Faculty of Arts, Asian Studies Program, and Korean Studies Project are pleased to announce the following public talks by two engaging and promising scholars from Philadelphia for the 2020 AST International Seminar and KS Speaker Series. 2020 UPEI Career and Summer Job Fair on March 11

The annual UPEI Career Fair is Wednesday, March 11, from 10 am to 2 pm in McMillan Hall of UPEI’s W. A. Murphy Student Centre. The fair provides an opportunity for students to meet employers face-to-face to learn about job opportunities and discuss future employment options.

Hosted by UPEI Career Services, the fair welcomes a wide variety of employers from various industries who will be actively hiring students and recent graduates in March 2020.

UPEI women's basketball heads to the medal round at the U SPORTS championship

After stunning the Ryerson Rams in an exciting 75–70 comeback win, UPEI's women's basketball team is heading to the semifinals at the U SPORTS Women's Basketball Championship in Ottawa. The Panthers take on Brock University Saturday afternoon at 2 pm Atlantic Time.   Livestreaming in English is available for free worldwide on CBCSports.ca, CBC Gem, the CBC Sports App for iOS and Android devices, with French digital coverage carried on USPORTS.LIVE.

Jenna Mae Ellsworth named U SPORTS Player of the Year

OTTAWA (U SPORTS) — Guard Jenna Mae Ellsworth of the UPEI Panthers and forward Brett Layton of the Calgary Dinos were honoured with the Nan Copp Award and Mike Moser Memorial Trophy as U SPORTS basketball Players of the Year Wednesday night, as the national award winners were celebrated at the joint All-Canadian Gala.

With the honour, Mae Ellsworth became the final member of the Top 100 players of the century, in celebration of the centennial anniversary of U SPORTS women's basketball.
