COVID-19 impacts on tourism: UPEI’s MBA students dig in
On Tuesday, August 18, students in UPEI’s MBA in Global Leadership program will make their final capstone presentations examining the impacts of COVID-19 on the PEI tourism industry. The project is part of a partnership with the Tourism Industry Association of PEI (TIAPEI) .The public is invited to stream the presentations live from 1 to 2:30 pm.

AVC receives donation for Indigenous programming at vet camp
The Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island, has received a donation of $10,000 from Nestlé Purina PetCare Canada to support Indigenous students attending the College’s Dr. Tim Ogilvie AVC Vet Camp.
New PEI weather and climate change application launched
Get a group of Islanders together, and in short order, the conversation turns to the weather. Thanks to Dr. Xander Wang, assistant professor at UPEI’s School of Climate Change and Adaptation, those conversations can be informed by real-time weather readings and historical climate data collected across PEI.
UPEI Pride Celebrations — Wear your rainbow!
Congratulations to the UPEI Student Union for kicking off the 2020 PEI Pride Festival, July 26–August 2, by hosting several Pride events over the last two weeks. The University will join in the celebration by flying the Pride flag all week at the flag plaza in front of Kelley Memorial Building.

Seeking tourism operators for a survey on the impacts of COVID-19
Students in UPEI’s MBA in Global Leadership program created a survey to better understand the impacts of COVID-19 on the tourism industry. The project is part of a partnership with the Tourism Industry Association of PEI (TIAPEI) and Tourism PEI. Tourism operators are asked to complete the online survey before July 31.
A network of kindness supports the UPEI Food Bank

UPEI launches Gold Rush 50-50 fundraiser on the UPEI Panthers app
The UPEI Department of Athletics and Recreation has partnered with PEI-based Thinking Big Information Technology Inc. to launch the Gold Rush 50-50 fundraiser on the UPEI Panthers app. The first Gold Rush draw will take place on Saturday, August 1 at 8 pm.
Gold Rush is a virtual 50-50 fundraising initiative that will raise funds for UPEI’s varsity and club sport programs as well as enhance recreational offerings that are available to all UPEI students.
