The University of Prince Edward Island hosted Dr. Francisco Dallmeier, director of the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute’s Center for Conservation and Sustainability, when he visited Prince Edward Island in November to give a talk on Climate Change Impacts on Biodiversity.  

Global Village Multicultural Festival

Our annual UPEI Global Village Multicultural Festival takes place on Friday, November 15 at 6:00 pm in McMillan Hall of the W.A. Murphy Student Centre. Agriculture from the air

Climate change is bringing hotter temperatures and shifting precipitation patterns to PEI farmers. PhD student Stephanie Arnold is helping by providing precision agriculture data from the air, thanks to the UPEI Climate Lab's fleet of drones, so that Island farmers can make the right decisions at the right time. 

Panthers at Home, November 8 to 10

Hockey rules the home schedule this weekend as the UPEI men’s hockey team looks to pick up its first win at home, and the U SPORTS 9th ranked women’s Panthers look to improve their record with a pair of games.

The men’s hockey team kicks off the weekend on Friday at 7 pm in MacLauchlan Arena with a game against St. Francis Xavier University.

There are just a few more days to reserve your tickets to the UPEI Sports Legacy Celebration on November 14, where the newest members of the UPEI Sports Hall of Fame will be inducted. Tessa Roche, Vernon Pahl, and the 1984–85 UPEI Men’s Hockey team will be the 48, 49, and 50th inductees, respectively, bringing the total membership of the UPEI Sports Hall of Fame to 50.

Indigenizing and Decolonizing Reading Group

The decolonizing reading group is meeting again on Monday, November 18, 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm, in Memorial 308. Come join your colleagues in a discussion about knowledge and research and some important questions that a concentration on decolonizing raises around these central focuses of our profession. We'll be discussing the Introduction and Chapter One of Decolonizing Methodologies: Research and Indigenous Peoples, by Linda Tuhiwai Smith (2012).
