Join us this Saturday for a double header as UPEI’s women’s and men’s hockey teams play their last home games before the December break.
Saturday’s action begins at 4 pm in MacLauchlan Arena as UPEI’s women’s hockey hosts St. Francis Xavier University. The Panthers have had an outstanding start to the season with just two losses, putting them in second place in the AUS.
UPEI Concert Choir performs The Messiah, November 30
The UPEI Concert Choir, under the direction of Sung Ha Shin-Bouey, will perform George Frideric Handel’s The Messiah-Part I (plus the Hallelujah Chorus) in collaboration with the Atlantic String Machine and UPEI voice majors as soloists. Other ensembles sharing the stage will be the UPEI Chamber Singers, Le Ragazze Girls Vocal Ensemble, and the Ragazzi Jrs Singers in collaboration with pianist Leo Marchildon.
Campus Traffic Restrictions on December 1 for Charlottetown Christmas Parade
The Charlottetown Christmas Parade will take place on Sunday, December 1, 2019, beginning on University Avenue at Enman Crescent at 5:00 pm. As a result, there will be traffic restrictions at the UPEI University Avenue entrance, as the staging of the parade walking groups will take place on campus in the W.A. Murphy Student Centre parking lot.
MA Island Studies Thesis Defence - Cheryl Carmichael
Cheryl Carmichael will be defending her thesis entitled, "SPARTECA, PICTA and WTO: How the Pacific Island states are impacted by free trade agreements" Cheryl's defence will take place on Friday, December 6th at 10:00am in Rm. 104 Health Sciences Building. UPEI announces the Panther Subway Athletes of the Week, November 18 to 24
Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and dedication to their respective sports. Congratulations to Kaylee Dufresne and Elijah Miller, the UPEI Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for November 18 to 24.
Ultramar and Breast Cancer Foundation support research at UPEI
Ultramar is supporting breast cancer research at UPEI, through the Breast Cancer Foundation’s My Active Health program. The research is carried out by UPEI’s Active Living Lab.
The Active Living Lab recruited cancer patients and survivors from across the Island to participate in a 12-week supervised exercise-training program, which focused on balance, strength, cardio, and flexibility. After the 12 weeks, participants showed improvements in a number of areas, from decreased fatigue, increased strength, and an increased satisfaction in quality of life.
Public meeting and survey on PEI’s indicators of climate change
The public is invited to a public meeting and presentation about the indicators of climate change for Prince Edward Island. The event is on Wednesday, December 4, at 7 pm, in room 242 of UPEI’s Don and Marion McDougall Hall. The meeting and a corresponding survey are part of a master of science research project conducted by graduate student Don Jardine.
