The E-Learning Office is moving the 3rd Annual UPEI Teaching Community Conference online on May 5th, 2020. This will be an online conference for UPEI faculty and staff to present on their teaching and how they support teaching here at UPEI.

The Dr. L.I. Duffy Memorial Award was established to support a Canadian student enter their first year of Dentistry.

The recipient of this award is to be a Canadian student who has been accepted and will be entering his or her first year of Dentistry at any dental school. The award will be based on academic performance in undergraduate studies and need.

Two (2) awards will be granted annually to a UPEIFA member, staff member, and/or a volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution to the research enterprise at UPEI. 

Dr. Katherine Schultz was appointed the first Vice-President, Research & Development, at UPEI in 2001. She received her PhD in 1983 from the University of Manitoba in Psychology, specializing in Behavioural Neuroscience. Before assuming her responsibilities at UPEI, she served as Associate Vice-President, Research & Graduate Studies at the University of Winnipeg from 1994 to 2001. Under Dr. Schultz's leadership, UPEI has realized remarkable growth - over 600% in research funding. In her leadership role dedicated to the research strength at UPEI, she recognized the incredible contributions made in support of research by faculty, staff and volunteers. Dr. Schultz established these awards to honor UPEI faculty, staff and volunteers who play a critical role supporting UPEI research endeavours.

Dr. Schultz established these annual recognition awards to recognize the excellence and ongoing outstanding contributions of these "behind the scenes" drivers of the research enterprise, open to nominations from across campus.

BlackBoard Collaborate is web conferencing software that allows instructors to do many things to engage with their students. Use BlackBoard Collaborate to make video recordings of your teaching or to deliver your instruction in real time. Are learning targets even necessary?  There are numerous ways to describe learning and just as many opinions as to which is best.  Facilitated by the E-Learning Office, this online workshop will be offered on Wednesday, April 22nd from 2 to 3 pm and again on Wednesday, May 20th from 10:30 to 11:30 am. Our EFAP provider, LifeWorks by Morneau Shepell, has created orientation webinars for any Employee, Faculty member, and their dependents that want to know more about how their UPEI EFAP benefits work. Working from home without proper ergonomic set up can contribute to musculoskeletal strain.

Kinesiologists from UPEI’s Active Living Lab are offering online ergonomic consults for individuals working from home to educate them on ergonomic best practices and provide suggestions on how to work as safely as possible during this period.

The session will be a 20–30 minute video conference via Zoom. The kinesiologist will review workers’ existing equipment, furniture, and work habits and will discuss strategies to optimize well-being while working from home.

Everyday life has its own challenges. We work, we take care of family and we cope as best as we can. In these days of uncertainty, there are new challenges that are adding to our stress levels, and bringing us to heightened levels of anxiety. But guess what? There are strategies that each and every one of us can use to help neutralize our compounded stress levels. 

We are all grieving loss at this time – be it our routines, our social networks, or our work environment. Yet life goes on even during these times of crisis, urgency and uncertainty. This session will identify strategies for dealing with loss, transitions and an unknown future.

This session will be hosted on Google Meet and the joining information is below:
