The hours of operation for the UPEI Chaplaincy Centre Food Bank are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am–12 pm. The Food Bank accepts monetary donations online at upei.ca/donate (please designate your option in the dropdown menu), and food donations when it is open. Your support is appreciated!

The UPEI Scholarships and Awards Office is now accepting applications and nominations for the 2020 MacLauchlan Prizes for Effective Writing. 

There are a total of 60 awards granted with each award valued at $500 for the successful applicants. Please review the four categories of Prizes for eligible applicants:

MacLauchlan Prizes for Effective Writing (Community)  

Up to eleven (11) prizes will be available for returning undergraduate students who during the previous academic year (September 1 to August 31), have demonstrated writing excellence in a form outside of a university course and to a broader community-oriented audience.  

MacLauchlan Prizes for Effective Writing (Coursework) 

Up to thirty-five (35) prizes will be available for returning undergraduate students who have produced outstanding written work during the previous academic year (September 1 to August 31) in a UPEI course in which writing comprises a substantive role in the final grade of the course.  

MacLauchlan Prizes for Effective Writing (Faculty/Staff)

Up to three (3) prizes will be available annually for faculty and staff who have shown exceptional leadership in the development of writing among students at UPEI during the previous academic year (September 1 to August 31).  

MacLauchlan Prizes for Effective Writing (Webster Centre)

Up to eleven (11) prizes will be available for returning undergraduate students who during the previous academic year (September 1 to August 31), have shown the greatest improvement in one of the UPEI writing support programs coordinated through the Webster Centre.  

The final deadline for applications and nominations is October 15, 2020, but the UPEI Scholarships & Awards Office will be accepting applications from April 1 - October 15, 2020.

The deadline for tuition deadline Spring 2020 Tuition Waivers is no later than April 24, 2020.  We encourage you to have tuition waivers submitted by April 24 to assist in the timely processing.  Please be advised Human Resources will no longer accept printed waiver forms.

With the increase in quality and quantity of cognitive sciences research over the last few years, what of it can be usefully applied to teaching? This online workshop aims to pull out the most practical-to-use tips from the research on learning and memory for teachers to integrate into their planning and instruction. Facilitated by the E-Learning Office, you can attend this webinar on either Wednesday, April 15th from 2:00 to 3:00 pm or Wednesday, May 13th from 10:30 to 11:30 am. REGISTER

Created in honour of Dr. J. Regis Duffy, this award is granted annually to a graduating student who has demonstrated to an outstanding degree the qualities of scholarship and leadership within the University community, and who is not receiving a Governor General's Medal. A cash prize of $1,000 and medallion will be granted to the successful student recipient.

Nominations can be made by any member of the University community on behalf of a student; letters of recommendation can be forwarded to Scholarships and Awards in the Registrar’s Office by email to scholarships@upei.ca. The deadline to nominate students will be the end of day on Friday, April 3, 2020.

An introduction to the Moodle quiz activity. This tool can be used for online tests, midterms, and exams. The Moodle quiz can consist of multiple choice, true/false, matching, short answer/essay questions and more. This session will cover the basics of quiz creation.
