AVC Class of 2015 Suture Review

For an evening of frolic and fun, come and enjoy AVC's Class of 2015 Suture Review on Friday, March 15, starting at 7:00 pm in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre. It promises to be a great show with videography, skits, music, dancing and acting. Tickets are $8 per person and are being sold daily over the lunch hour outside AVC's cafeteria or at the door. Raffle tickets are also available for some great prizes. This is a fundraiser for AVC's Class of 2015. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Winter’s Tales Reading

Join the UPEI English Department to welcome poet Clea Roberts from Whitehorse, Yukon. Roberts will read and discuss her poetry on Monday, March 18 at 7:30 pm in the UPEI Faculty Lounge, Main Building as part of the Winter’s Tales Author Reading Series. Her poetry immerses you in the lifestyle of the Yukon landscape and seasons, and takes you back to the gold rush days, bringing to life pioneers and fortune-seekers of the Klondike. Her reading is supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and the Yukon government.

Workplace Buillying Presentation

Join members of UPEI's executive MBA (EMBA) program and the PEI Business Women's Association for a presentation and networking event focusing on workplace bullying. Jodi Murphy, a UPEI EMBA graduate and teacher with the Prince Edward Island English Language School Board will share her research findings on the current state of workplace bullying in Canada and the implications that this issue has on organizations. UPEI Alumni Panel

Students, staff, faculty, alumni, and the public are invited to The Wave in the W.A. Murphy Student Centre on Wednesday, March 13 at 6:30 pm as four outstanding UPEI alumni will take the stage to discuss their experiences at UPEI and how they have transitioned into successful careers. Alumni speakers include: Shannon MacDonald, Spenser MacPherson, Erin McGrath-Gaudet, and David McMillan. This is an initiative of the UPEI Student Union and is supported by the Department of Student Affairs and the UPEI Alumni office.

Health Management Lecture

Dr. David Hall is a veterinarian with a PhD in agricultural economics and an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Ecosystem and Public Health, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Calgary. His current research activities address animal health economics and policy, international development, ecohealth, and decision making. He is particularly interested in perceptions of health and how they shape decision making related to mitigation of health risks. David is currently working on projects in Alberta, Bangladesh, Southeast Asia (particularly Vietnam and Indonesia), and Tanzania. He will be presenting the lecture: 'APPLICATIONS OF ECOHEALTH PRINCIPLES IN ASIA'. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Mental Health Week Kickoff

Join the UPEI community for the Mental Health Week Kickoff! This will include the installation of an acrylic-on-canvas mural created by eight young people with psychosis. The mural portrays their experiences using paintings, posters, and words. A graffiti table will be set up all week for students, staff, faculty, and visitors to share responses on what the mural invokes. The mural installation has been funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council to Dr. Kate Tilleczek (UPEI and SickKids) and Dr. Katherine Boydell (SickKids), who have shown and discussed it with over 5,000 young people in high schools across Canada. It is being presented this week at UPEI by Katherine Lezeu (UPEI nursing student and Research Associate) and Valerie Campbell (Research Manager, UPEI). Reid Burke, Executive Director of Canadian Mental Health Association (PEI division) will give a presentation entitled “Mental Health is for All,” an overview on the importance of mental and emotional needs in conjunction with physical needs.
