UPEI Wind Symphony Recital
The members of the UPEI Wind Symphony are excited to return to live performance for the first time in a year with a program of works by British composers. Featured works for this December 1st recital include Philip Sparke's playful and expressive “Hanover Festival,” Ralph Vaughan William's iconic “Folk Song Suite” (including the original 4th movement, “Sea Songs”), a set of three musical “Portraits of the North” by British Canadian composer Robert Buckley, and the first movement of Edward Gregson's “Tuba Concerto” featuring UPEI Music student Olive MacPhail as soloist.
Dr. Aitazaz Farooque presented his research at COP27 in Egypt
Dr. Aitazaz Farooque, interim associate dean of the UPEI School of Climate Change and Adaptation recently attended the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC), “COP27.” It was the 27th United Nations Climate Change conference, held from November 6 to 18, 2022, in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

For many at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), it is bittersweet news that bald eagle 450 (450) is ready to be transferred to his new home at Hope for Wildlife.
UPEI celebrates eleventh annual MacLauchlan Prizes for Effective Writing
UPEI celebrated the MacLauchlan Prizes for Effective Writing on Friday, November 18. This was the 11th year for the awards, but the 9th for an in-person celebration and the first one since 2019. The awards were presented to recipients, acknowledging their effective writing skills - a foundational skill for academic success and lifelong learning.

UPEI Jazz Ensemble Concert
The UPEI Department of Music will present a recital by the UPEI Jazz Ensemble on Thursday, November 24, at 7:30 pm, Dr. Steel Recital Hall, UPEI. Directed by David Shephard, the program will feature jazz standards and modern compositions alike, with works by jazz greats Pat Metheny, Wayne Shorter, Benny Goodman, and Quincy Jones.
Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for students, payable by cash at the door of the event.

UPEI Panther Subway Athletes of the Week (November 14-20)
Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for November 14–20 are Lauren Rainford (women’s basketball) and Lucas Fitzpatrick (men’s hockey).
An arts student from Toronto, Ontario, Rainford had a dominant second half (16 points) in a Saturday night win against UNB. The third-year guard finished with 20 points, three rebounds, and two assists.
