The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) announced support through the John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF) earlier this year for research that originated at UPEI’s Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering.

The Associate Vice-President of Students and Registrar issued a message to students on October 7, 2020 to advise them of  travel and self-isolation requirements if they leave and wish to return to PEI during the Thanksgiving Weekend and Fall Reading Week.

Olive Bryanton, PhD, LLD, can now add the post-nominal letters “OPEI” to her name. The octogenarian from Hampshire received the insignia of the Order of Prince Edward Island in a ceremony on September 30, 2020, at Government House in Charlottetown.

The cultural legacy of PEI’s Irish community will be in the spotlight on Sunday, October 4, when the UPEI Robertson Library and the Benevolent Irish Society of PEI (BIS) co-host a public launch of a digital collection of oral history interviews and lectures. The launch will be held at the BIS Irish Cultural Centre, 582 North River Road, Charlottetown, from 2–4 p.m. This event is free, but attendance is limited because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Advance registration is required. The Institute of Island Studies at UPEI is delighted to announce that the annual Island Lecture Series will be hosted online for the upcoming 2020–2021 season.

In a message to the campus community issued on September 25, 2020, the interim Vice-President Academic and Research announced that the University Senate has unanimously decided that UPEI will continue with a blended delivery model for the 2021 Winter Academic Semester, but that opportunities for additional in-person experiences and activities will continue to be explored.
