Dear Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre Members Effective Monday, July 1, 2013 the doorway between the CARI concourse and Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre will become an emergency exit only. Accordingly · Entry from the CARI Complex into the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre will no longer be available · As well, members will not be able to exit the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre into the CARI Complex. This door will be an emergency exit door with alarm. Changing to one point of entry/exit into our facility, allows our team at Panther Central the opportunity to provide our clients with quality customer services. Where: Andrew Hall, Room 142 Date: Tuesday, June 25 Time: Noon–1 pm Jason Ellis, UPEI’s Turning Technologies representative will give a presentation from noon-1 pm on designing effective questions, teaching techniques, and new response system developments Good for new or experienced users. From 11 am-noon, Jason will also be available to answer individual questions from people new to using clickers and wishing to learn more about them. A light lunch (sandwiches) will be provided. Please contact Christa Curran in the dean of science office (566-0382, chcurran@upei.ca) to confirm attendance. Open to all UPEI staff and faculty. Amount of food ordered based on previous survey numbers.

A joint project with the UPEI Student Union, Research Services and the Graduate Student Association--"Grad Student Research on Tap"--will be launched September 17, 2013. Speakers will be given 15 minutes to present their topic and a discussion period will follow. The following questions will allow for the Grad Student Research on Tap committee to properly assess possible speakers. DEADLINE for applications for the 2013 series is July 1, 2013. The next UPEI on-site training session in animal use and care will be held Thursday, July 18, 2013 1:00-4:00 pm AVC Lecture Theatre “B” This will be a 3-hour training session with handout, based on CCAC Recommended Syllabus (exam included). The Canadian Council of Animal Care (CCAC) requires that all personnel involved with the use of animals in research, teaching, testing and service take this course. (A refresher course is required every 5 years.) Please notify me by email animalcare@upei.ca by 12:00 noon on Thursday, July 11, 2013 if you or any of your staff will be attending this session. All are welcome to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the L.M. Montgomery Institute (LMMI) at the University of Prince Edward Island and the launch of the new book "Anne around the World: L.M. Montgomery and Her Classic," edited by Jane Ledwell and Jean Mitchell and published by McGill-Queen’s University Press. The event will take place on Thursday, June 20 at 7:00 pm in UPEI’s Faculty Lounge, Main Building. No admission fee.
