Dear Colleagues,
You are invited to provide feedback on the current and future direction of UPEI Robertson Library during a focus group involving UPEI faculty and staff.
The Library is in the process of developing a new five year strategic plan and would like to hear from you about what is working well and what we can do differently in the future. Details of the focus group are as follows:
Date: Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015
Time: 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm, lunch will be provided
Location: Faculty Lounge Room 201 Main Building
An independent facilitator, Wendy Drake (MRSB Consulting Services) will facilitate your discussion and will ask you the following questions:
What is currently working well and should continue?
What is not working so well and needs to be enhanced, improved, or changed?
Are there services at other academic institutions that you feel should be offered at the UPEI Robertson Library?
What gaps or challenges should be addressed?
What opportunities should be pursued in the next 5 years?
In your opinion, what is the most important priority for UPEI Robertson Library within the next five years?
Please RSVP by May 26th to Pauline MacPherson at pmacpherson@upei.ca.
Your feedback is appreciated!
Thank you in advance from the Robertson Library Team,
Mark Leggott (0460, mleggott@upei.ca)

Do You Need Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) training?
Training is required to carry out these responsibilities:
By ground: A person who handles (see definition below), offers for transport,or transports dangerous goods must:
(a) be adequately trained and hold a training certificate; or (b) perform those activities in the presence and under the direct supervision of a person who is adequately trained and who holds a training certificate in accordance with the regulations.
Handling - is defined as: loading, unloading, or packing dangerous goods...for the purposes of, in the course of, or following transportation.
Note: it has been clarified that you do not need to have training to unpack a dangerous good that has already been received by Shipping & Receiving. WHMIS training covers this aspect.
By air: (IATA regulations): No person may offer or accept dangerous goods for
air transport unless those goods are properly classified, documented, certified, packaged, marked, labeled, and in the condition for shipment required by the IATA regulations. Training is required to carry out these responsibilities.
Please note that there is also specialized courses for Infectious TDG training for Ground and Air - which deals specifically with handling biological agents.
Training courses offered will depend on the needs across campus. It's expected that training will be provided by Atlas Compliance in May or June.
If you require any of the above training (please indicate which training) or have any questions, please contact Pam Harris-Stewart at pjharris@upei.ca as soon as possible.

This is a reminder that the final public consultations will occur on Tuesday, May 19th, 10:30-12:00 in the Faculty Lounge, Main Building.
Eight scenarios have been developed to guide further discussions during the for public consultation sessions. These stem from our deliberations on the feedback that we received from our April public consultation sessions where specific questions were used to guide discussions. We identified areas in need of clarification in order to provide additional input on critical parts of the academic plan. Feedback received from the open sessions will be used to build specific sections of the plan.
The scenarios refer to real or simulated situations on campus where we would need to apply our academic values. We encourage you to provide your feedback by participating in the public sessions or to your thoughts on these questions through email at davcormier@upei.ca.
