UPEI Athletics & Recreation has some great NEW small group training programs starting in May. Small group training provides more personal attention to training, it's more economical, has variety, camaraderie, support and helps with motivation and adherence. It's helps YOU get results and most importantly it's FUN!!!

It's Convocation Week at UPEI! UPEI employees are invited to attend the Convocation exercises on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre. The morning ceremony begins at 10:00 am; the afternoon ceremony begins at 2:30 pm. Each ceremony is preceded by a procession of graduates across campus.
Seating is limited due to safety regulations so if staff members would like an invitation, please contact Eileen Kinch at kinch@upei.ca.
All guests must present their invitations in order to be admitted to the Sports Centre. (Graduates can obtain up to five guest invitations at the Office of the Registrar from Monday, May 2 to Friday, May 6, 2016, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.)
Approximately 520 graduates will attend the morning ceremony, while approximately 420 graduates will attend the afternoon ceremony. UPEI will confer honorary Doctor of Laws degrees to three distinguished members of the healthcare field. Dr. Katherine L. Bick and Dr. William D. Stanish will receive honorary degrees in the morning, with Dr. Stanish delivering the Convocation Address. Mr. Ray Murphy will receive an honorary degree during the afternoon ceremony and will address graduates.

Noontime Yoga class on Tuesday, May 3 at the UPEI Chaplaincy Centre is cancelled. The class will held the following week for the remainder of the year.
Faculty Recognition Night will be held Wednesday, May 4, beginning at 7:00 p.m. (Reception: with live music, 6:30 p.m.) at the Fox Meadow Golf and Country Club. This event honours the winners of the Hessian Award for Excellence in Teaching, the UPEI Merit Award for Scholarly Achievement, and the Outstanding Service Award as well as those FA Members who are retiring. Tickets are $50.00 each (with a subsidized price of $25.00 for FA members and their guests), and can be pre-ordered at the Faculty Association Office, SDU Main Bldg., Room 315, Ext. 0438. This public presentation is part of Ms. Tummon Flynn’s PhD Comprehensive exam and will be followed by an oral examination.
Cycle and Core with Bernadette! Tuesdays 4:30 - 5:30 pm. Starting May 17. This 60 minute class combines a cardio cycling workout and strength training for your core. It’s about 35 minutes of cycling followed by 20 minutes of core exercise that target the abs.
Each program fee: Members $51 + hst; non-members $60 + hst per program for six week program. Pre-Registration is required. Please register at Panther Central, UPEI Sports Centre (902-566-0368).

UPEI students, staff and faculty are invited to a presentation by the Tobacco Use Policy Review working group. The working group will present the results of a recent survey and will seek further input for proposed changes to the current UPEI Tobacco Use Policy. Sessions will be held on Monday, May 2 at 10:00 am and Tuesday, May 3 at 2:00 pm at Don and Marion McDougall Hall, room #246.
ITSS wishes to remind the University community that in order to accommodate changes to software* installed on computers in the student computer labs for the new school year (Fall semester), we must receive requests including any installation media (CDs, DVDs, etc.) and any related licensing information such as serial numbers before June 1, 2016. Email all requests to smahar@upei.ca.
Any requests received after June 1, 2016 will be applied in the next round of software updates. All software installations are required to be licensed as network installations and not single workstations only. Facilities Management will be conducting scheduled maintenance on the power systems for UPEI's data centre on Saturday, May 14 between the hours of 8:00 and 10:00 am. UPEI will be recognizing the National Day of Mourning for workers killed or seriously injured on the job by lowering the flags on campus to half-mast on Thursday, April 28. The National Day of Mourning is not only a day to remember and honour those lives lost or injured due to a workplace tragedy, but also a day to renew the commitment to improve health and safety in the workplace and prevent further injuries, illnesses and deaths.The Day of Mourning was first recognized in Canada in 1984, and has been marked in over 100 countries.
