AVC welcomes Class of 2023

The AVC Class of 2023 celebrated the commencement of their veterinary education at the 2019 AVC-CVMA Blue Coat Ceremony held at UPEI on Friday, August 23. At the ceremony, the new students were presented with blue lab coats, signifying the beginning of their four-year journey toward their doctor of veterinary medicine degrees. Hosting the ceremony were Dr. Greg Keefe, Dean of AVC; and Dr. Erin MacDonald, Prince Edward Island representative for the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) and a member of AVC’s Class of 2007.

Walk with a Doc: Let’s get some exercise and talk health!

Join us for a monthly talk to improve your health and live longer. Walk with a Doc meets once a month at UPEI. Walk at your own pace and chat with local health care professionals (please note that this should not replace a meeting with a healthcare provider). All walks are free. No registration is required. All ages and abilities are welcome.  

The first walk will be at 9 am at the UPEI outdoor track on Saturday, September 28.

Breakfast of Champions featuring Leo Rautins

UPEI Athletics and Recreation announced on September 20 that veteran sports journalist Leo Rautins will speak at the inaugural Breakfast of Champions at the Mickey Place Memorial Basketball Tournament on October 5. The annual tournament runs October 4–6, 2019 and features eight U SPORTS teams, four on the women’s side (Cape Breton University, University of Ottawa, University of Waterloo, and UPEI), and four on the men’s (Cape Breton University, University of Ottawa, Saint Mary’s University, and UPEI).

Leo Rautins to speak at inaugural Breakfast of Champions, October 5

Kinesiology students seeking participants for exercise-training program

Students from UPEI’s Kinesiology 3430 class are seeking participants to take part in a five-week exercise program. Students will create personalized exercise-training programs for each participant based on their fitness, skill level, and personal interests.

Participants must be between 30 and 65 years of age. The program runs Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, 1:30 to 4:30, from the week of October 7 to the week of November 11. Volunteers will receive a fitness test the first and last week of the program, separated by three weeks of supervised aerobic and strength training.
