UPEI Sustainable Design Engineering graduate builds growing venture around indoor air quality

For many engineering students, university is about technical formulas and design theory. For Ben McQuaid, a 2024 graduate of the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering program at the University of Prince Edward Island, it was about learning how to identify the root cause of a problem. This mindset led him to launch EZ Breathe Heat Pump Cleaning.

UPEI’s 2026 Shannon K. Murray Lecture on Hope and the Academy to take place on September 22

Dr. Kevin Gannon, Director of the Center for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence and Professor of History at Queens University-Charlotte, will give the 2026 Shannon K. Murray Lecture on Hope and the Academy on September 22, at 3:30 pm, in the Faculty Lounge (Room 201), SDU Main Building, UPEI.

Dr. Gannon’s lecture, titled Hope for Humans, is free and open to the public. 

Paula Wood-Adams appointed Interim Vice-President, Academic and Research

The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) welcomes Paula Wood-Adams as the new Interim Vice-President, Academic and Research (VPAR) for a one-year term, effective June 2026. A distinguished professor of engineering and internationally recognized expert in applied polymer science, Wood-Adams brings over three decades of leadership, academic excellence, and research expertise to the UPEI community.

The Department of Physics invites you to visit the Earl L. Wonnacott Observatory to observe the moon through our telescope.

Drop by any time between 8-10 pm to wait for your turn to go up to the observatory. We will have moon information and activities for different ages while you wait.

Trails for Tails 5K Fun Run/ Walk- AVC SAVMA

The Atlantic Veterinary College SAVMA Chapter is hosting their 4th annual TRAILS FOR TAILS- a 5K fun run/walk! Students and community members are invited to attend this all-ages event (10+ years for run registration) and all fitness levels are welcome. Dogs are welcomed and encouraged to attend! This 5 km run/walk follows a route on the UPEI campus and the Confederation Trail, starting and ending at the WA Murphy Student Centre.
