In a message to the campus community, President Keefe announced that the Electoral Board for the Chancellor unanimously approved the reappointment of the Honourable Catherine Callbeck for an additional one-year term.

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island and the Prince Edward Island Humane Society (PEIHS) have partnered on a new study that will examine how early adoption age impacts kitten health and behaviour.

Over the past two years, researchers at UPEI have garnered more than $1.6 million in discovery and discovery development grants from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

In an update that was emailed on July 19, 2022, faculty and staff were advised that University negotiating teams have been collective bargaining over the last ten weeks with the University of Prince Edward Island Faculty Association (UPEIFA), IBEW 1928, and CUPE 1870.

UPEI will hold its annual Summer Reunion Weekend in person from Thursday, July 28, to Saturday, July 30, after a two-year hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The weekend will feature events for alumni from Saint Dunstan’s University, Prince of Wales College, and UPEI.

A red oak tree has been planted on the UPEI campus in memory of the late Daryl Guignion, UPEI Founder, long-time faculty member, and dedicated conservationist and biologist. The tree, planted by the PEI Wildlife Federation, was dedicated during a ceremony at UPEI on Wednesday, July 13.

The Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE) at UPEI has been granted accreditation for a three-year term from the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) for the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Design Engineering. This term may be extended to the maximum six-year accreditation period following the submission of a status report at the end of two years.

With human tourists joining us on Prince Edward Island, we also see an increase of furry family members enjoying the campgrounds and beaches.

The UPEI Women’s Soccer program has a gem on its hands. Head coach Lewis Page has recruited local standout Ria Johnston, hoping to build a strong foundation that can help end the team’s seven-year playoff drought.
