On Friday, May 5, a “Girls Get WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) Challenge Day” is being held at UPEI’s Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering building. The day will cover the topics of science, engineering, math, and technology for girls in grades K-12 with age groupings of grades K-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12.

The goal is to expose participants to hands-on science activities and careers so that they can make informed decisions about subject choices in future school years. Girls will participate in hands-on science, technology, and engineering activities led by female faculty from UPEI and STEAM PEI staff.

The event is a collaboration between Girl Guides and STEAM PEI with support from UPEI and financial support from the Fund for Gender Equity, Actua, and WISEatlantic.

Students can register by calling STEAM PEI at 902-201-4734 or online at https://steampei.jumbula.com/Spring2023/GirlsGetWISEChallengeDay. The programs for grades K-3 and grades 4-6 are full; however, students can ask to be added to a waitlist.

There is no cost for this event, and lunch is provided.
