Dr. Shannon Murray and Dr. Neb Kujundzic are both candidates for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Arts and will present on July 16 and July 17.
Dr. Murray is currently a faculty member in the Department of English. On Wednesday, July 16 at 2:30 pm, Dr. Murray will make a public presentation in the Alex H. MacKinnon Auditorium (Room 242), McDougall Hall. All faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend. The topic of her talk will be "Challenges and opportunities facing the Faculty of Arts in the next five years."
Dr. Kujundzic is currently a faculty member in the Department of Philosophy and Interim Dean in the Faculty of Arts. On Thursday, July 17 at 2:30 pm, Dr. Kujundzic will make a public presentation in the Alex H. MacKinnon Auditorium (Room 242), McDougall Hall. All faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend. The topic of his talk will be "Challenges and opportunities facing the Faculty of Arts in the next five years."
The search committee welcomes feedback and requests that it be forwarded by email to vpa@upei.ca by Friday, July 25, 2014.

The Sports Centre will be open from 7:00 am-5:00 pm on Canada Day. If you're wearing red, two people can workout for the price of one!
Summer Membership Specials - starting July 1, 2014:
- Beginning July 1-August, we are selling a one-month membership for $50 plus HST.
- Day visits - We are going to be selling day access for $5 plus HST. We'll have this special for the month of July and August.
- On July 1 - wear red and two can work out for the price of one ($5 plus taxes).
Why is Dodgeball such a hit? Come on in and find out! On Tuesday, July 1 from 10:00 am - 12 noon at the Sports Centre gymnasium. Free for everyone to try this great game out!
The following programs begin in July:
Stroller Fitness - 4 weeks:
A total-body workout for new moms/caregivers incorporates power walking, strength, and toning exercises. A variety of fun class formats both indoors and outdoors. Dates: July 7-28. Mondays Group - 10:15-11:00 am. Instructor - Tracey Gairns-Brioux. Fee: Members $34 + HST. Non-members $40 + HST.
Speed training and TRX - 8 weeks:
This program involves interval training and a speed portion around the track. You will increase your fitness, burn fat, and improve your tone. Dates: July 15 - September 2. Tuesdays Group - 6:30-7:15 am. Instructor - Tracey Gairns-Brioux. Fee: Members $68 + HST. Non-members $80 + HST.
Advanced Group Cycling - 8 weeks:
What better way to build strength than to climb? Get ready to ride steadily and consistently with heavy resistance. Strength rides increase muscular and cardiovascular strength enabling you to be a powerful climber. The class will also challenge your aerobic base through interval sprints and maximum speed. Dates: July 10-August 28. Thursdays Group 6:45-7:30am. Instructor - Tracey Gairns-Brioux. Fee: Members $68 + HST. Non-members $80 + HST.

There will be a Health Management Special Seminar "The Captive Elephant Conundrum" on July 3 at 10:00 am in AVC Lecture Theatre "A" by Dr. Ted Friend, a Texas A&M AgriLife Research Faculty Fellow and Professor, Animal Behavior and Wellbeing, Department of Animal Science, Texas A&M University College Station, Texas, USA. Dr. Friend’s research program involves both applied and basic research projects and he has published research papers on cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, goats, elephants, dogs, and tigers.
Abstract:
Covering Dr. Friend’s USDA sponsored research projects on elephant transport and management.
