December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women in Canada. Established in 1991 by the Parliament of Canada, this day marks the anniversary of the murders in 1989 of 14 young women at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal. The PEI Advisory Council on the Status of Women will hold the annual Montreal Massacre Memorial Service on Wednesday, December 6 at 12 noon in Memorial Hall at the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown. The guest speaker at this year's service will UPEI's Director of Student Affairs Treena Smith who will discuss "Bringing in the Bystander".
UPEI will observe the day by lowering the flags in front of Kelley Memorial Building and at UPEI Alumni Canada Games Place to half-mast.
Tuition Waiver forms for the Winter 2018 semester must be submitted to Human Resources by no later than December 19, 2017. When completing the form, please include all of the required information (Course name, time, start and end date, cost and the number of semester hours) to avoid any delays in processing the waiver. Please submit original forms directly to Human Resources (lower level Kelley building, room #143).

At the Chaplaincy Centre, thoughts are with the students during exam time, their success, and yes, of course, the chili dinner. On December 6 and 7, between 11:30 am–1:30 pm, a chili lunch and, this year, a vegetarian curry will be served at the Chaplaincy Centre, free for the students.
About 300 students show up each day with smiles and conversation during this busy week.
UPEI students are invited to enjoy a Festive Coffee and Cookie Break on Wednesday, December 6, presented by the Office of the President. Drop by the concourse in the W. A. Murphy Student Centre between 1 and 2:30 pm where the team from the Office of the President will serve up cookies, coffee, and hot chocolate and UPEI music students will be carolling!

Dr. David McRuer will present "When the Cat’s Away, the Mice will… Die. The impact of Free-roaming Cats on Native Wildlife”
Dr. McRuer is a candidate for Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Biomedical Sciences. He is currently employed as a wildlife management biologist with the PEI Department of Communities, Land and Environment Division of Forests, Fish and Wildlife. He holds a MSc in Ecology and Ecological Immunity from Carleton University and a DVM from AVC (Class of 2005).
All are welcome to attend the seminar on December 4 at 2:00 pm in 205N, AVC Learning Commons.

The UPEI Music Department Recital Series 2017-2018 is pl eased to present the UPEI Concert Choir under the direction of Dr. Margot Rejskind on Saturday December 2 at 7:30 PM at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Charlottetown. Tickets for adults are $15 and $10 for students. Available at the door, online, by emailing music@upei.ca, or by calling 902-566-0507.
The choir will be performing pieces by Martini, Biebl, Schubert, Hildegard of Bingen, Victoria, Mendelssohn, Britten and others.

Do you have library fines? Would you like to help a fellow student or family on campus?
Bring non-perishable food or grocery items (e.g. canned goods, pasta, light bulbs, toilet paper, etc.- please no damaged, expired, or opened goods) for the Campus Food Bank to the Service Desk at the Library from Friday, December 1 to Saturday, December 16 and we’ll deduct $2.00 per item from your library fines.
