Dr. Taufiq Rahman will be presenting a special research seminar on Tuesday, August 21, at 11:00 am in SDE 202.

The National Research Council Canada based in London, ON has formed the connected and autonomous vehicle (CAV) team to expand organizational capacity in the areas of autonomous driving and advanced manufacturing. Recognizing the common denominators involving the enabling technologies in both areas for connectivity, analytics, sensing, and perception, the CAV team of NRC-London is focusing on mid to high TRL (technology readiness level) solutions to help Canadian business enterprises remain competitive in the global market. Current focus areas for the CAV team include fusing multi-sensor data to improve AI perception for autonomous driving, real-time augmentation of ground-truth HD maps utilizing satellite images and crowd-sourced data, enhancing public safety against cyber intrusion in connected vehicles, and minimizing resource cost of development and testing of autonomous driving hardware and software by building virtual and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments. In order to deliver these projects, the CAV team is working with industry partners and university research teams. This presentation provides an overview of the current activities of the CAV team and the corresponding partnership opportunities.

The UPEI Career Services team would like to invite organizations to participate in the annual UPEI Volunteer Fair. This year's fair will be held on Wednesday September 12, 2018 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, in  the W. A. Murphy Student Centre, McMillan Hall. Students bring a wealth of energy, interests and experiences to volunteering. Often students would like to volunteer but are unsure about how to proceed. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to learn about becoming a volunteer.

Space at the Fair is limited, and registration is on a first-come-first-serve basis. However, this is an open invitation, and we wish to invite as many organizations as possible from across PEI to give them the opportunity to register and take part. Please feel free to forward this invitation to other volunteer organizations in your network. The registration deadline is August 28, 2018. Registration is free. You can register for the Volunteer Fair by clicking on the link below: https://goo.gl/forms/FrgzcCcrpZYnf5YI3
