Come join us for the official opening of this Mi'kmaq Petroglyph Exhibit featuring the artwork of Mi'kmaq artisan Todd Labrador. There will be an oral story telling by Mi'kmaq Author and PEI Poet Laureate Julie Pellisier-Lush, as well as complimentary tea/coffee.

This exhibit is a partnership between the Mawi'omi Centre and the Roberston Library.

 

The much awaited reopening of Samuel's Cafe is finally here! Our soft launch will be on Monday, October 7th with operational hours of 8 am to 3 pm, Monday to Friday until further notice. 

We will continue to offer our On the Go products, Bagels Your Way, Van Houtte coffee and Davids Tea, and a Soup of the Day, as well as our bakery and confectionery items.

We hope to see you back at Samuel's Cafe!

Learning is an action that only the student can own and control. As an instructor, what can be done to help support the development of a student's core skills? In this workshop, instructors will learn about three key skills that contribute to more efficient and effective learning. Those skills are how to take quality notes, how to read for learning, and how to study effectively. You can attend this workshop on one of two separate dates: Thursday, October 17th or Wednesday, November 13th. Time is 10:30 to 11:30 am and the location is Room 265 of the Robertson Library. The UPEI Health and Wellness Centre will be hosting a HPV (Human Papillomavirus) awareness booth outside McMillan Hall on Monday, October 7 from 11:00am-2:00pm. Approximately 75% of sexually active Canadians will have at least one HPV infection in their lifetime, and it can affect all ages. Please drop by to learn more about the most common sexually transmitted infection in the world today and find out how you can reduce your risk of developing the types of cancer associated with HPV. 

A brief HPV Awareness presentation will take place Monday, October 7 at 12:30pm in Room 238 of the Health & Wellness Centre (above the bookstore)Bring your lunch and learn some quick facts on HPV!

A limited number of free HPV vaccines will be available in the Health and Wellness Centre from 1:00pm-3:30pm on Monday, October 7, on a first-come-first-serve basis, for eligible PEI health card holders who meet criteria to receive the vaccine (visit our booth to find out if you are eligible). Participants must be agreeable to receiving the full series of three vaccines at 0, 2 and 6 month intervals. Additionally, students with UPEI insurance now have great coverage to help cover the cost of their vaccines.

As part of the Molecular and Macromolecular Seminar Series, Dr. Saurabh Chitnis, visiting faculty from Dalhousie University, will be presenting a talk on "Orbital engineering of main-group compounds for new reactivity".

Abstract: Besides steric and electronic tuning, geometric deformation of molecules away from their VSEPR structures offers another way of introducing new reactivity. This talk will focus on the use of geometric deformation as a strategy for eliciting new reactivity with antimony and bismuth compounds.

How is my course going and how am I doing? These are great questions to ask your students throughout your course in order to make minor changes that could have a major impact on overall student learning outcomes. In this workshop you will learn what kinds of questions to ask to help you get the feedback you need from your students. You will also learn how to create a quick online survey  that will make data collection and analysis easier. This workshop will run from 10:30 to 11:30 am on Thursday October 10th and repeat on Wednesday, November 6th. Location is Room 265 of the Robertson Library. REGISTER

The Healthy Campus Committee is providing a 45 minute class that offers meditation and gentle yoga stretches. The meditation segment of the class creates more calm, inner peace and balance that benefits both your emotional wellbeing and overall health.This is a class for all fitness levels. The class will be held on Thursdays at 12:30 pm - 1:15pm.   Yoga Instructor: Pam Harris. The classes will be held in 4 week blocks.   First Rotation: September 19 - October 10.  Second Rotation: October 17 - November 7. Third Rotation November 14 - December 5. Its free but pre-registration required and individuals will be put on wait lists.
