Campus Notices

This is a reminder that the UPEI Biosafety Policy requires that all Principal Investigators confirm the security and complete inventory of all biohazardous materials being used or stored, due in November of each year. This is accomplished by updating your entries if required, then confirming the accuracy of your inventory as follows:

1. Access your inventory at https://biosafety.vre3.upei.ca/. Please copy and paste into your url.

2. Ensure your inventory is up to date, and then confirm this by following the steps as listed below.

3. Select User Menu (top right of screen) then My account (from the left side of the drop down screen).

4. Click Edit (just below the user name)

5. Click on Information (on the top right section of the screen).

6. Scroll down this page. Below the box with the phone number, you will notice a box next to I accept. If you have not already done so, please read this section and, if you agree, please check this box.

7. To report your inventory is up to date, please enter the date that you confirm this in the 2020 box.

8.  Hit Save! Task completed.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. If you are not yet a user of this site, but store or use biohazardous materials, please contact me to arrange access.

The AVC Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) is excited to announce our online pet store (mvVETstore), where every purchase supports training the next generation of veterinarians. This online store offers UPEI faculty and staff the convenience of shopping for your pet’s products at whatever time suits you, with 24/7 service and a huge selection of food, treats, toys, and supplies for cats, dogs, pocket pets, and exotics.

With current COVID restrictions, it can be inconvenient and time consuming for you to come into the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Ordering through the myVETstore website is faster and safer for you. If your pet needs a prescription diet, these are strictly controlled by your AVC veterinarian through our myVETstore.

Ordered products can be shipped directly to your home, cottage, or office, or picked up at the VTH. We will send you an email letting you know when your order has been shipped or is available for pickup.

We invite you to sign up and create your account (please use your UPEI email address to get your staff discount) for the AVC myVETstore through the link below:

In a world that is so bitter and divisive, it's so good to see ideas that bring people together. Let's bring the warmth back to winter! Let's send a gift to the Bahamas. The Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) and 3M Canada are pleased to announce the call for nominations for the 2021 3M National Student Fellowship Award.

The 3M National Student Fellowship honours up to ten full-time diploma and undergraduate students at Canadian post-secondary institutions who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in their lives and at their post-secondary institution. These students embrace a vision of education that enhances their academic experience and beyond.

This award is the first in Canada to build community among visionary student leaders who demonstrate outstanding leadership and innovation through seeing current needs in higher education or society and implementing change. We believe it is their voices that will shape tomorrow’s future in post-secondary education.

You can view the revised call for nominations at https://www.stlhe.ca/awards/3m-national-student-fellowships/. The submission deadline is January 29, 2021.
