Depending on the work requirements of university departments, the Christmas schedule will be in effect from December 21, 2020 through January 1, 2021, inclusive. Office and regular business hours will resume Monday, January 4, 2021.

Payroll deadlines:

For the December 24 pay, the deadline for PTFs, pay changes, etc are due by noon on November 26. Electronic timesheets/overtime are due December 14.

For the January 8 pay, the deadline for PTFs, pay changes, etc are due by noon on December 10. Electronic timesheets/overtime are due January 4. 

For the January 22 pay, the deadline for PTFs, pay changes, etc are due by noon on December 23. Electronic timesheets/overtime are due on January 11.

CAP Concussion Awareness Program invites you to a presentation entitled "Recognition, Detection, Recovery: Myths and Facts," by research coordinator Matthew Gallant. The event is Wednesday, October 28 from 5 to 7 pm in room 242 Don and Marion McDougall Hall.

The venue is wheelchair accessible and stair-free. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, sessions are limited to 30 people.

The Moonlight Scholarship is extending the application deadline for the award until Tuesday, November 3, 2020.

Awarded to eight (8) students who are in good academic standing and have shown an interest in the Buddhist faith by the successful completion of one or more of the following courses: Religious Studies 102, 221, 352, 251 or 261.The award is valued at $1,000 each.

The Avery Award is extending the application deadline for the award until Tuesday, November 3, 2020.

Granted annually to a returning UPEI student in their first degree program of undergraduate studies in any faculty who has an interest in L.M. Montgomery, a demonstrated aptitude for social media initiatives, and has above average writing skills with an understanding of the importance of clear communication without reliance upon faddish abbreviations and other deviations from effective writing. The award is valued at $1,000 for the successful recipient.

The COVID-19 Student Support Fund for International Students application is now ACTIVE!

The scholarship is specifically for international students at UPEI that have faced financial challenges due to COVID-19. Students are required to explain these challenges, and can apply for an award up to $1,000. Students that apply will be considered, but not all will receive awards due to financial limitations.  

For students to apply, they must visit:

Click on the 'COVID-19 Student Support Fund' along the left side

Answer the three questions, and click SUBMIT

The application will be open for one week and close at 11:59 on Friday, October 30th. Students will be notified if they are a recipient of the COVID-19 Student Support Fund by Friday, November 6.

We are looking for students to participate in our research study, called the "Cross-Canada Release of the Post-Secondary Student Stressors Index (PSSI)". The PSSI is designed to provide a detailed assessment of the sources of post-secondary student stress, with the goal of helping post-secondary institutions across the country better target their student services. With your help, we can achieve our ultimate goal of improving mental health outcomes for students across Canada. We will be conducting 3 surveys over the course of the 2020-2021 academic year. As thanks for your participation, you will have an opportunity to enter into a raffle for a chance to win one of several $25-$50 gift cards at the end of each of these surveys.

The Arts and Sciences Equity and Inclusion reading group is meeting again. Join us in a discussion of a recording of Drs. Chris Andersen and Shirley Anne Tate, with Susanne Luhmann moderating (all from the University of Alberta), discussing "Institutionalized Racism." The English Language Centre is excited to be running Academic Sessions every Wednesday from 10:45-11:45 am. Each week, our student assistants will be running a series of workshops on a variety of topics to increase student success.

The UPEI Health and Wellness Centre is providing three days of flu shot clinics for all students, faculty, staff and families. There is no charge for the flu vaccine. Children must be over the age of two (2). The clinics will be held as follows:

October 23, 2020:  9:00 am–3:30 pm

October 26, 2020:  1:00 pm–8:00 pm

October 27, 2020:  9:00 am–3:30 pm

In addition, there will be an AVC Flu Shot Clinic on November 4, 2020, from 12:00 pm–7:00 pm  in the AVC McCain Foundation Learning Commons Atrium for AVC faculty, staff, students, and their families.

There are no individual appointments; instead, we will provide the vaccine on a first-come, first-serve basis. We will follow the direction of the Chief Public Health Office and maintain physical distancing. If there are more than 50 people waiting you may need to wait outside or come another time. Please note the following.

  • Masks are mandatory in all UPEI buildings.
  • Read the fact sheets (used with permission from Public Health Nursing, Health PEI) before you come for your vaccine. They are located on the UPEI Health and Wellness Centre webpage: https://www.upei.ca/health-centre/flu-vaccines
  • You must be prepared to stay for 15 minutes following your vaccine.
  • Children less than 24 months old must be vaccinated by Public Health Nursing and you will need to make an appointment. 
  • Children under nine (9) years old who have never had a flu vaccine will require a second vaccine in one month.
  • The FluMist (intra-nasal) vaccine will be available for those aged 2–17, as well as the Fluzone High-Dose vaccine will be available for individuals over 65 years of age.
  • If you have a fever or other symptoms of COVID-19, do not come to the flu shot clinics. Contact 8-1-1 for advice and direction.

Protect yourself and others.........Get the flu shot, not the flu!!
