The UPEI Health & Wellness Centre will be conducting Hand Hygiene audits on March 22-25th.  Visitors to the health centre will be asked to complete a brief survey on handwashing/sanitizing by our staff.  Proper hand hygiene alone can reduce healthcare-associated infections by 50%.

In our mission to provide high quality, safe care, the health centre is working on quality improvements, one of them being to ensure we are performing good hand hygiene.

Help us to find out how we are doing by completing a survey if you visit us between March 22-25th.

Thank you!!

The UPEI Health & Wellness is conducting its annual Patient Satisfaction Survey.  For the first time, the survey is digital and the link will be mailed to all patients who visit the clinic between March 8-19, 2021.  If you are not visiting during this time, but have feedback, please go to www.upei.ca/health-centre and click on the link: "We'd love to hear from you" to submit your feedback.

Prerequisites: "C as a Second Language" or prior experience with C programming

A great deal of high-performance computing software is written in C++, but few universities offer courses in the language any more. If you have to work with "legacy code" written in C++, adding features, porting to a new machine, or patching errors, or if you need to extend packages like OpenFOAM which are written in C++, then this workshop is for you.

C++ was designed as an extension of the C language but has its own distinct idiom or style. This workshop assumes that you already know C to the level reached in the ACENET workshop, "C as a Second Language".

This session will take place on:

Thursday, March 18th - 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm (Atlantic time)

You do need to have a laptop with a Mac, Linux or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc) on which you have administrative privileges, as you will need to pre-load specific software packages.

Participants must register using their institutional / organizational email address (not a personal email, ie. gmail)

Instructions for how to join will be sent out one day prior to the start of the event.

This webinar session takes a look at the effect that the COVID pandemic has had on key aspects of our health: socialization, nutrition, physical exercise, and sleep.  Our goal is to help you reduce stress levels by providing you with the skills to recognize signs and symptoms of unhealthy coping. We will then work through the process of creating healthy coping mechanisms that can be used in your day to day life.  Presented by Third Year Nursing Students.

Date and Time: March 15th at 10:30 AM

Draw prize:  UPEI Bookstore $50 gift certificate.   Only UPEI staff and faculty eligible for draw.  Please contact Angela Marchbank, Fitness & Wellness Coordinator for the webinar link.

Earlier this week Prime Minister Justin Trudeau designated March 11 a national day of observance to commemorate those who have died from COVID-19. Canada will mark the one-year anniversary of the World Health Organization declaring COVID-19 a global pandemic on Thursday, March 11, 2021.

The government has asked Canadians to think about those whose lives were claimed by the novel coronavirus, as well as the health-care and other essential workers who have been on the front lines.

UPEI will join governments and other organizations across the country in lowering the flags to half-mast as part of this observance.
