In these lessons, we will start you on the path toward making use of the great flexibility and power of cloud computing. We will be using the popular static website generator Jekyll. This is an in-depth workshop for those with no prior cloud experience, at the end of which you will have a virtual machine and a Jekyll website. Prerequisite: Completion of Software Carpentry's Unix Shell, or similar experience. This workshop will have two options: an instructor-led option and a self-study option. We recommend that should you choose the self-study option, you have some prior knowledge of the topics to be successful.

UPEI offers music and theatre studies programs that inspire students to excel and share their gifts around the world. With this in mind, we kindly ask for your support so we can enhance our programming, provide state-of-the-art equipment, renovate the Dr. Steel Recital Hall, and help shape a new 400-seat performing arts venue so that our students are set up for success!
Join other supporters and become a “part of the fabric” in UPEI’s performing arts venues by naming or dedicating a seat. Having a seat named, in either the Dr. Steel Recital Hall or the new performing arts venue, is a unique and meaningful way to celebrate your or your loved one’s passion for the performing arts, while at the same time providing crucial support for students.
In recognition of your donation of $5,000, a plaque engraved with your name or dedication will appear and remain forever on a seat. You will receive a personalized thank you from us, a photo of the plaque, and an opportunity to see it once it has been affixed to your seat.
Name your seat today with a gift of $5,000 payable over five years. For more details, please contact Kathy Weatherbie, UPEI Development Officer, at krweatherbie@upei.ca or 902-626-6791. We appreciate your consideration!

UPEI has stated in our “UPEI Strategic Plan, 2018–2023” that "UPEI is committed to advancing reconciliation through higher education. As a community, we have started a journey of growth to realize the role we must play in promoting an understanding of Indigenous history and culture, and supporting respectful relationships. UPEI recognizes that discussions in this era of truth and reconciliation will unveil difficult facts within our country’s history. However, in keeping with our institutional vision, we know that education is vital to understanding the history of colonialism and the forward-looking process of reconciliation. Working together, we must use knowledge as a catalyst for meaningful change in communities here in Prince Edward Island and around our world."
Check out our display of books on Mi’kmaq history from our Circulating Book Collection. Books in the display may be borrowed.
Because of the significant Mi’kmaq presence on Prince Edward Island (Epekwitk, often anglicized as “Abegweit”), many of our Library’s Mi’kmaq-related titles are housed in the PEI Collection (SPEC-PEI Location in the Library Catalogue). PEI Collection titles are available for consultation by anyone presenting a photo ID, but can only be used within the Library.
Check out the Library’s Indigenous Studies Guide and Mi’kmaq Research Guide for resources on Indigenous Studies.
The Indigenous Studies Research Guide, created by Courtney Matthews, subject librarian for Indigenous Knowledge, Education, Research, and Applied Studies, is a living guide which supports UPEI’s new Faculty of IKERAS and its Indigenous Studies minor. Contact Courtney to schedule a research consultation or for further assistance.
The Mi'kmaq Research Guide highlights key resources that focus on the Mi'kmaq in Prince Edward Island and Atlantic Canada. The guide was created by Simon Lloyd, Special Collections Librarian. Contact Simon to schedule a research consultation or for further assistance.
The 2022 Mi'kmaq History Month poster—Mi’kmaw Beadwork & the Art of Beading—is available from the Mi'kmaq History Month website.
This year’s poster honours and celebrates beading masters who have carried on beading traditions, designs and patterns through their ceremonies and art.
