UPEI’s 2024 Giving Tuesday campaign was an unprecedented success, raising a total of $44,010 from 54 extremely generous donors on the Global Day of Philanthropy. An anonymous donor pledged to match Giving Tuesday donations up to $20,000, making it by far the largest year yet for UPEI. The donations will be dedicated to the University’s $15-million Robertson Library Revitalization campaign.
Festive greetings and good wishes filled the air as guests were welcomed to the New Year’s Day Levee held by the University of Prince Edward Island and the UPEI Alumni Association on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering building.
The University of Prince Edward Island held a celebration on September 26, 2024, at Alumni Hall to recognize the recipients of the 2024 Distinguished Alumni Awards and the 2024 Inspiring Young Alumni Awards.
The UPEI Department of Alumni and Engagement hosted a social night on Tuesday, April 9 at the Fox & Crow, W.A. Murphy Student Centre. The event was held to help welcome the UPEI Class of 2024 to the UPEI alumni family and was open to all 2024 graduates and UPEI, Saint Dunstan’s University, and Prince of Wales College alumni.
The UPEI community will be well represented by both alumni and staff at the national women’s curling championship—the Scotties Tournament of Hearts—taking place in Calgary, Alberta from February 16–25, 2024.
Through the generosity of the UPEI Alumni Association and a donor, UPEI sponsored the attendance of 100 students at “A Conversation with Michelle Obama,” which took place in Halifax on October 18.
The 2023 UPEI Panther Golf Classic is Friday, June 23, at Fox Meadow Golf Course in Stratford. Presented by Stewart McKelvey, this is a fun day for participants that begins at 9:00 am with a shotgun start.
The first-ever UPEI Panther Pitch competition took place two years ago as part of the Harry W. MacLauchlan Entrepreneurship Program. This year, UPEI's Experiential Education Department is re-offering the program through March, culminating in a pitch competition in May.
Earlier this month—Black History Month—the Canadian Broadcasting Company named five people 2023 Black Changemakers for Prince Edward Island. Four of the five have connections to the UPEI community.
