About the Search

The University of Prince Edward Island has now completed the search for its seventh President and Vice-Chancellor. The Presidential Search Committee thanks members of the campus community for their thoughtful input throughout the process and all those who expressed interest in the position. We are excited to welcome a visionary leader who shares our enthusiasm for this extraordinary post-secondary institution.

About the Search

During the search, the Presidential Search Committee engaged two organizations to aid them in building a highly consultative process.

Perrett Laver, one of the world’s leading international executive search firms, supported the search process. While they provided expertise, the Presidential Search Committee was responsible for establishing the direction, driving the process, and vetting the candidates.

The University also retained CCDI Consulting Inc., a leading Canadian human resources consultancy for organizations looking to create inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible workplaces. CCDI was available to provide consultative support in conjunction with University’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) resources to ensure that the Presidential Search attracted inclusive leaders as candidates.

It was absolutely essential that the President and Vice-Chancellor’s credentials reflected a deep understanding of workplace fairness, were consistent with the University's aim of creating a respectful environment, free of harassment and discrimination, and aligned with the University’s values and mission.

Therefore, to ensure that the Presidential Search resulted in a successful candidate who met the University’s and broader community’s expectations, the search process took 12 months and included several phases: Planning, Consultation, Candidate Search, Candidate Assessment, Interview, and Announcement. The Presidential Search was completed on May 6, 2024, when the UPEI Board of Governors announced that Dr. Wendy Rodgers was the successful candidate and will be the University’s seventh President and Vice-Chancellor.
