President's Holiday Social for Faculty and Staff

Dr. Greg Keefe, President and Vice-Chancellor (Interim), invites you to attend the 2023 PRESIDENT’S HOLIDAY SOCIAL FOR FACULTY AND STAFF on Friday, December 15, from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm in The McCain Foundation Learning Commons,  Atlantic Veterinary College.

Celebrate with your colleagues and enjoy complimentary appetizers and refreshments while listening to students from the UPEI Music program perform songs of the season.

"My 'expertise' is a willingness to learn and engage in solving real-world challenges."

What brought you to UPEI? Why did you choose to teach here?

I grew up in Guelph, Ontario and before learning about the UPEI Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE), I was uncertain whether I would want to work in academia. My interests are diverse, so I struggled to see a fit in many of the traditional engineering schools that use departments to divide engineering teaching and research into specific disciplines.

Island Lecture Series | Dr. Joshua MacFadyen

Based on his new book, Time Flies: An Aerial History of Coastal and Ribbon Development on Prince Edward Island, Dr. Joshua MacFadyen will show that development in the coastal zone and along rural roads is accelerating on Prince Edward Island, just as the province is experiencing sustainability challenges in both areas. The talk will offer a unique combination of aerial photographs, historical maps, and more traditional sources, as it describes the province’s journey into modernity.

Call for Nominations—Honorary Degree Candidates

The University of Prince Edward Island invites the nomination of candidates for honorary degrees to be conferred at Convocation in May 2024.

Honorary degrees are conferred honoris causa, “for the sake of honour,” and are intended to recognize outstanding provincial, national, and international contributions in any field of endeavour. Contributions should reflect extraordinary intellectual or artistic achievements, or significant service to society at a standard of excellence that merits the University’s highest honour.
