The Presidential Search Committee launched an online survey today as part of the consultation phase of the 12-month search process that will select a new President and Vice-Chancellor for the University of Prince Edward Island.

In a message to the campus community, Shannon MacDonald, chair of the UPEI Board of Governors, shares the process that will be followed for the Presidential Search as well as a link to the online survey, one of the methods by which the Presidential Search committee will gather input to develop a position profile.

The UPEI Women’s Basketball Panthers have secured a commitment for the 2023–24 season from Deborah Aboagye, the reigning Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) Most Outstanding Defensive Player.

A special ceremony and presentation was hosted by the Native Council of PEI (NCPEI) to recognize the University of Prince Edward Island for its commitment and outstanding contributions to the ongoing work toward reconciliation with Indigenous communities. The event took place on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 10:00 am in Schurman Market Square at Don and Marion McDougall Hall.

The UPEI Men’s Hockey Panthers have secured a commitment from Josh Currie, age 21, from Pickering, Ontario, for the 2023–24 season.

Over the last six months, the UPEI Women’s Hockey Panthers have secured commitments from four skaters and a goaltender for the 2023–24 season. Hayden Lilly, Brooke Thomson, Sarah Fraser, Brooke Henderson, and Erin Cabaday will join the team this fall.

Joanne Severe, a fourth-year University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) Foods and Nutrition student and dietetic intern, won the Undergraduate Research Award for her thesis and presentation, “Mealtime in Child Care Centres: Exploring Educators’ Feeding Practices,” at the annual Science Atlantic Nutrition and Foods Conference, hosted virtually on April 28 and 29, 2023, by UPEI.

Dr. Debra Titone, Canada Research Chair in Language and Multilingualism (Tier I) and Associate Vice-Principal Research at McGill University, and co-founder of Women in Cognitive Science Canada (NSERC/CSBBCS funded), gave a presentation entitled “Women in Cognitive Science Canada: A Grass-roots Effort to Foster Disciplinary Equity and Inclusivity” at UPEI on Tuesday, July 18.

Dr. Greg Keefe, UPEI’s interim president and vice-chancellor, issued a message today to faculty and staff on the passing of Dr. James “Jim” MacAulay, a UPEI honorary degree recipient, proponent of higher education and life-long learning, and proud Saint Dunstan’s University alumnus (SDU ’62).
