UPEI is developing a UPEI Action Plan Advisory Group in response to the Rubin Thomlinson report. Read about the public “Call for Expressions of Interest," which has been issued to community members who would like to participate in and contribute to the Action Plan process.

For the first time, Prince Edward Island, or Epekwitk, has its own regional Elder to represent the province within the Assembly of First Nations. Elder Judy Clark, UPEI Elder in Residence, Mi'kmaq woman from Epekwitk, and a member of Abegweit Mi'kmaw Nation, was named “Knowledge Keeper” and a member of the Assembly of First Nations' (AFN) Council of Elders for the province during the AFN’s 44th annual General Assembly held from July 11 to 13, 2023, in Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Nova Scotia, in Mi’kma’ki.

Dr. Sarah (nee Proud) Wheeler, graduated from Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) in 2001, and now her daughter is walking in her footsteps.

Students participating in the 2023 UPEI Student Program for Undergraduate Research (SPUR) will present their final posters on Wednesday, August 23, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, in the concourse of the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering Building.

The UPEI Men’s Soccer Panthers have secured a commitment from midfielder Emile Abele for the 2023–24 season.

Dr. Karem J. Simon, professor emeritus at UPEI, will officially launch his album, Solitary Clarinet, on Saturday, August 26, 2023, starting at 10:30 am in UPEI’s new Performing Arts Centre (PAC) Theatre.

Several UPEI representatives met with Charlotte Montel, cultural and scientific counsellor, with the Embassy of France in Canada (Ottawa), and Mélaine Ricard-Boulieu, cultural attaché, with the Consulate General of France (Moncton) on Wednesday, August 16.

The UPEI Men’s Hockey Panthers have secured a commitment from veteran defender David D’Agostino for the 2023–24 season.
