Bruce Donaldson, coach of UPEI’s Women’s Hockey team, is pleased to announce Shaylin McFarlane has committed to the Panthers for the 2019–2020 season.

University of Prince Edward Island history department professor Dr. Bruce Craig has been awarded the 2019 Mary Lee Spence Documentary Book Award for his most recent book, Portrait of a Prospector: Edward Schieffelin’s Own Story, published by University of Oklahoma Press, 2017. 

| Atlantic Veterinary College

A high-voltage transmission tower in Borden-Carleton, PEI, was the scene of a dramatic event on Wednesday, June 19. With the assistance of Fish and Wildlife PEI and Maritime Electric crews, Dr. David McRuer, wildlife health specialist with Parks Canada and an adjunct professor at AVC, removed a fledging eaglet from its nest, which was located inside the tower structure.

In June 2019, the Chinook Project team travelled to northern Labrador to provide free veterinary services in Nain and  Natuashish. In all, approximately 150 medical appointments and 50 surgeries were performed.

The Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Veterans Affairs, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, along with the Honourable Brad Trivers, PEI’s Minister of Environment, Water and Climate Change, today announced an innovative climate change adaptation project led by the University of Prince Edward Island.

The University of Prince Edward Island announced today that it will induct three members into the UPEI Sports Hall of Fame at its UPEI Sports Legacy Celebration on November 14, 2019. Tessa Roche, Vernon Pahl, and the 1984–85 UPEI Men’s Hockey team will be the 48, 49, and 50th inductees, respectively, bringing the total membership of the UPEI Sports Hall of Fame to 50.
