The deadline for Animal Care Protocol Submissions—new, renewal, or amendments—is Friday, July 5 for the July meeting.
Ensure you always download the current forms from http://research.upei.ca/animal_care and use Adobe Reader to complete forms. Only current forms will be accepted.
Both the signed hard copy and electronic protocol submission must be submitted by the deadline date.
∙ Submit one copy of original protocol with signature to AVC - Annex, Biomedical Sciences Dept., Rm 2302.
∙ Submit an electronic copy to animalcare@upei.ca
Those protocols received after the deadline will be reviewed the following month.

The Student Union Will be Closed from 11:45 am-1:00 pm Friday, June 14. Sorry for any inconvenience.
This very short, 2-question poll is being used to assess interest in a
couple of "ResponseWare" (clicker) workshops to be held on Tuesday, June
25. Responses accepted until Monday June 17 at noon.
Turning Technologies manufactures and supplies the physical clicker
device used by UPEI and sold in the bookstore. All first-year science
students were required to buy physical clickers starting in the fall of
2011. Individual psychology courses are continuing to pilot the
smartphone application and software versions.
Our Turning Technologies representative, Jason Ellis (phone:
888-522-8689, ext.202 or email: jellis@turningtechnologies.ca) can also
be contacted for more information if you cannot make one of the
potential sessions listed below.
We would expect the workshop sessions to be between 60-90 minutes.
Responses are collected using the UPEI google form system and you will
need to be logged into it fill out the form.

The staff of the Human Resources Department invites the campus community to
a retirement reception for Karen White. It will be held on Thursday, June
20 at 2:00 pm in The McCain Foundation Learning Commons at AVC.
Light refreshments will be served.
We hope that you will be able to join us as we honour Karen's dedication to
the UPEI campus and wish her well on her retirement (and try to convince
her to stay!).

Research Recognition Day on June 20 from 3-6:30 pm.
There will be oral presentations from 3-5:30 with the poster presentations and refreshments
to follow. This will be held in the Health Sciences Building, Main Floor.
Please try to attend, and come and see some of the great
research work done by UPEI's graduate students.

The PEI Urban Fox Project, led by Dr. Marina Silva-Opps, is crowd-sourcing
data about foxes at the site upei.ca/redfox. This spring, they were able to
set trail cameras at den location.

“This map should not exist,” begins the narration of a new episode of
“Treasures Decoded,” a popular history television show that uses historical
and forensic experts to dig up new truths about old artefacts.
This particular episode opens with Dr. Richard Raiswell climbing the steps
to the library archives of Yale University. He’s been given special
permission to examine a rare and controversial document: the Vinland Map....

Dr Colleen MacQuarrie, associate professor in UPEI's Department of
Psychology, is collaborating on a project with Women's Network PEI. The
project aims to develop a community response to the issue of poverty on
Prince Edward Island through an online survey.
