Michelle MacDonald, Department of Pathology and Microbiology will present a seminar called "Immunostimulation effects on sea lice induced lesions of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salad)" and Amanda Thomas, Department of Biomedical Sciences will present a seminar called "Discovering UV Resistant Extremophiles from Arctic Sea Ice Melt Pools" on Tuesday, March 18 at 3:30 pm in AVC Lecture Theatre C. Everyone is welcome.
The Psychology Department delivers the last talk of the 2013–14 Fiona Papps Colloquium Series on Friday March 14 at 3:00 pm in Memorial 215. "Curiosity: What's the point of getting out of bed without it?" is being presented by Dr. Stacey MacKinnon. Please join us on Friday for this very interesting lecture. Persian night: On March 15 at 11:00 pm, The Iranian Society will host a perfect night with Iranian musics at The Wave. This event is $5 per person, and is a 19+ event. Movie Night: On Monday, March 17 at 8:00 pm in Main Building, Room 117, The Society will host a movie night featuring "About Elly," an Iranian movie by Asghar Farhadi - winner of an Oscar for The Separation - with English subtitle. The cost is $2, or free for those who also attend Persian night. Save the date: 4 Shambe Souri- The Iranian Society is hosting an Iranian cultural event which is celebrated on the last Tuesday night of the year, March 18 (based on the Iranian calendar). The deadline for Animal Care Protocol Submissions -- new, renewal, or amendments -- is Friday, April 4 for the April meeting. Ensure you always download the current forms from http://research.upei.ca/animal_care and use the most current Adobe Reader to complete forms. Only current forms will be accepted. Both the signed hard copy and electronic protocol submission must be submitted by the deadline date. ∙ Submit one copy of original protocol with signature to AVC - Annex, Biomedical Sciences Dept., Rm 2302. ∙ Submit an electronic copy to animalcare@upei.ca Those protocols received after the deadline will be reviewed the following month. On April 15, 9-11 am, and April 16 1:30-3:30 pm, Workplace Safety Inspections sessions will take place in the Robertson Library, room 235. In this seminar, participants will learn ways to prepare, inspect, report, and follow up on workplace hazards. The workshop uses group and individual activities involving common hazard scenarios and sample forms to guide you along in your next workplace safety inspection. The 2014 Grad Week Committee is looking for nominations for the following awards and positions, all nominees must be graduating. Just send the name of the person you are nominating to vpactivities@upeisu.ca with a brief description on why they deserve the award. Nominations will be accepted until noon on Friday, March 14. The Owen MacDonald Memorial Award - Awarded by the Senior Class of ‘70 and succeeding Senior Classes This award is presented to a graduating student for excellence and the outstanding contribution to the Senior Class in his/her final year of study. The Crescam Serviendo Award (May I Grow By Serving) - Dedicated by Class of ‘72 This award is presented to both a male and a female member of the Senior Class who has contributed most to the life of the University during their years attending UPEI. The Class of 98 Leadership Award – Established by the Senior Class of ‘98 This award is presented to a graduating student who has demonstrated leadership and has made a considerable contribution to Campus Life, particularly to the Senior Class. The Senior Class Spirit Award This award goes to someone who really exemplifies UPEI pride. This is for someone who has taken pride in UPEI during his or her years of attendance, and who shows and overall love for the UPEI spirit. Life Executive Awards The Life Executive will be responsible for the affairs of the Class of 2014, including maintaining communications with the Class of 2014 as trust officers of Class funds, and as a liaison between Alumni and the Class of 2014. The Life Executive will also have the authority to appoint replacements when and if needed. -Life Executive President for the Senior Class of 2014 -Life Executive Vice-President for the Senior Class of 2014 -Life Executive Secretary for the Senior Class of 2014 -Life Executive Treasurer for the Senior Class of 2014
