The SJDAWC is calling for applications from potential graduate students for the 2018 Sir James Dunn Animal Welfare Graduate Scholarship. This scholarship will support the training of researchers at the masters or doctoral level to pursue animal welfare research at the University of Prince Edward Island. Both applied or more fundamental approaches to research pertaining to animal welfare are welcome.

Applications for 2018 will be accepted until 5:0 pm (AST) Monday, March 5, 2018, with decisions to be announced in April. Students may take up their award at any time of the year but must do so within 12 months of the date of the letter of offer.

You will have the full support of a representative from the UPEI Counselling Services to prepare and work with you throughout the presentation.

Dorothy E. Smith is widely acknowledged as a major feminist thinker of our time, and perhaps best known for her development of Institutional Ethnography, a theory/methodology of discovery aimed at providing a sociology for, not of, people. Smith’s lecture will focus on the interface between her development of a critical sociology aimed at exploring and explicating governance in contemporary society and its roots in feminism.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. UPEI will be offering it's next ASIST Workshop on Thursday/Friday March 8th & 9th.

This workshop has a limited capacity of 15, and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. All other interested contacts will be included for future ASIST sessions. Please email kjlawlor@upei.ca to request to join the workshop.

All are welcome to attend Mary MacPhee's PhD Defense presentation, "The Experience of Non-Francophone Parents with Children in Minority-language Schools in Prince Edward Island: A Mixed Method Study".

Ensure you download the current forms, use the most current Adobe Reader to complete forms (only current forms will be accepted).

Both the signed hard copy and electronic protocol submission must be submitted by the deadline date.

Those protocols received after the deadline will be reviewed the following month. The Committee requires at least one month for processing applications.
