The deadline for Animal Care Protocol Submissions (new, renewal, or amendment) is Friday, January 7th, 2022 for the September meeting.
Please note that as of June 1, 2020 all animal user protocols must be submitted through UPEI Researcher Portal at https://upei.researchservicesoffice.com/Romeo.Researcher/
For new protocols select ‘applications’ and for renewal or amendment protocols select ‘events’.
To view any UPEI ACC SOPs and Codes of Practice, they can be accessed through myUPEI at https://portal.upei.ca/facultystaff/administrativeservices/AVCAnimalCare/Pages/default.aspx.
Those protocols received after the deadline will be reviewed the following month. The Committee requires at least one month for processing applications.
The Faculty of Education invites members of the campus community – students, faculty and staff – to attend a public presentations by candidates for a tenure-track position in Early Childhood Education. Candidates will present on Early Childhood Education: Challenges and Opportunities.
Dr. Amanda Ferguson's presentation takes place on December 8th from 9am-10am in Memorial 417.
Dr. Gabriela Arias de Sanchez' presentation takes place December 9th from 9am-10am in Memorial 417.

Ethics protocols that involve ‘more than minimal risk’ must be reviewed by the full UPEI Research Ethics Board (REB). The next deadline for submitting these protocols is Thursday December 23, 2021.
Other ethics protocol submissions, including new applications that do not involve ‘more than minimal risk’, renewals, and amendments may be submitted at any time. They will be sent for delegated review as soon as all necessary forms are received.

The Doctor of Psychology students at UPEI are inviting 2SLGBTQ+ folks to an exciting night of free beginner yoga on December 8th at 6:30pm located in the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre, UPEI (ask the front desk for directions if you get lost!).
This exciting event is open to all self-identified 2SLGBTQ+ folks aged 17+ who are interested in connecting socially and trying out yoga (beginners are welcome!). The night will include a 60-minute yoga session led by a certified yoga instructor, followed by a walk to the Fox and Crow for social hangouts (food & drinks will not be provided).

Join Occupational Therapist, Sarah MacKenzie, as she introduces sensory processing differences and sensory diets.Neurodivergent individuals often experience challenges with sensory input to their brain. Some individuals are hypersensitive to sensory input of light, noise, sound, touch, and smell, while others may be hyposensitive to the senses. Whichever experience an individual has, there are ways professionals can help to combat it, sometimes through the use of sensory diets. Sensory diets are specifically designed for the individual to have a variety of sensory-based activities that are designed to assist with attention, arousal, and adaptive responses to their environment. Sensory diets can also be helpful in assisting someone in understanding their sensory needs, as many individuals who experience sensory challenges have a hard time discerning their specific areas of need. In this presentation we will go over what sensory diets are, and what they are used for. We will also go over sensory diet activities, and how to determine what sensory needs an individual has. While this lunch 'n' learn is intended for students, all are welcome.

Hi ! we are members of the Presents for Pediatrics ratified club at the University of Prince Edward Island.
We are reaching out to you in hope that you can help make holidays warmer for children who have to spend their Christmas on the Pediatric Unit.
We received donations from great local businesses, and we are hosting an online auction on Facebook where people can bid on the items donated. The money raised will go towards purchasing gifts for children who have to spend Christmas time in the Pediatric Unit at QEH hospital.

Synopsis: With reference to community, research, and media reports, we will explore the experiences of Black students in today’s universities noting how they negotiate the inequitable institutional structures in order to realize their educational, employment and career ambitions. We will reflect on how today’s discourses of “systemic racism” and the programs initiated are bringing about the changes anticipated or needed.

The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women, which takes place every year on December 6, marks the anniversary of the murders of 14 young women at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal in 1989. Read news story on upei.ca
UPEI will observe the day by lowering the flags in front of Kelley Memorial Building and at UPEI Alumni Canada Games Place to half-mast. Everyone is encouraged to wear their purple ribbons to raise awareness about violence against women and children here on PEI, across Canada, and around the world while imagining what true safety for all people, of all genders, can look like.
Again this year due to COVID-19, the PEI Advisory Council on the Status of Women will host its annual Montreal Massacre Memorial Service—that honours the lives of women that have been lost to violence, and missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls—in a livestream event. The service will be broadcast on Facebook at 12 noon on Monday, December 6: facebook.com/peistatusofwomen
