Anyone with a upei.ca email address can log into the website and create an event to help spread the word to the UPEI campus community. Your event will appear in the complete list of UPEI events and on the UPEI homepage as the actual date of your event approaches.

Overview: This course will review the basics of dealing with difficult people. Everyone is different, and so are their personalities, so this course will help participants deal with those different personality types in difficult situations. Topics and material on the subject will be reviewed, and then chances to practically apply the knowledge will take place through some role-playing on how to diffuse difficult situations and remain calm. Place a dot on the world map to indicate the country where you are sending your postcard! We mailed postcards to over 30 countries the last time we held the event. Can we surpass that number this time?

All research compliance applications, including biosafety application forms, must be submitted through the Researcher Portal. Information about the Researcher Portal, including instructions for using the site, is available at https://www.upei.ca/research-services/forms. Contact researchcompliance@upei.ca if you have any questions about accessing or using the Researcher Portal.

Please note that the IBC has instituted a new category of protocol amendment: biosafety permit minor amendment. This event form is included in the Researcher Portal. Minor amendments that are strictly limited to changes in personnel and/or funding can be submitted at any time but require up to a two-week review period. They are normally reviewed by the IBC chair or designate and the BSO or designate. If the amendment is approved, then an approval notification will be sent to the PI. Submissions via this route may be sent for full committee review at the discretion of the IBC chair and the BSO.

Ethics protocols that involve "more than minimal risk" must be reviewed by the full UPEI Research Ethics Board (REB). The next deadline for submitting these protocols is Friday, October 28, 2022, for review at the November meeting.

Other ethics protocol submissions, including new applications that do not involve "more than minimal risk"; renewals; and amendments may be submitted at any time. They will be sent for delegated review as soon as all necessary forms are received.

All research compliance applications, including Research Ethics Board application forms, must be submitted through the Researcher Portal. This online system is paired with electronic approvals to replace the hard-copy signatures process. For more information about the REB review and approval process, please contact the Compliance Coordinator at researchcompliance@upei.ca.

COVID-19 test kits can now be picked up at the UPEI Health and Wellness Centre, 2nd floor North, W.A. Murphy Student Centre, from 8:30 am--12:00 pm and 1:00--4:00 pm Monday to Friday. On weekends and holidays, you can pick up test kits at Panther Central in the Chi Wan Young Sports Centre.  Students in residence, please talk with your RLA.

The former pick-up location next to Tim Horton's is closed, effective October 14, 2022.

Mail-in ballots are available at www.electionspei.ca. The mail-in ballot application period has been officially extended until 11:59 pm on October 29, 2022, and the period to return ballots to Elections PEI has been extended until 12 pm on Thursday, November 10, 2022.

The UPEI Health & Wellness Centre will offer free flu vaccines on October 19 and 20. The clinics will be held in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre. The vaccines are for all students, faculty, staff, and their families. The clinics will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, and Thursday, October 20, 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The clinics will be first come, first served. Please bring a provincial health card. For international students who do not have a PEI health card, please bring your student ID.  

Overview: This course will give employees and managers a better sense of how to fully support LGBTQ+ members within the workplace. From discussions around inclusive concepts, terminology, and vocabulary to how to create a fully positive space within the workplace, this course will teach behaviours that can help bring diversity and inclusion into the modern workplace. Diversity and inclusion are essential for building a modern, high-performing workplace!​

The Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation in St. Peter's Bay will host a public Open House on Friday, October 21, from 9 am to 4 pm.

From 9:30 to 11:30 am, there will presentations by industry, government, and NGO leaders regarding the effects of climate change on their sectors. Tours of the facility and graduate student poster presentations will take place from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
