MOU and Other Contracts
Fee for Service Contract
An agreement with the University where a business, individual or agency agrees to provide a service to the University in return for monetary compensation. The contract describes in detail the nature, duration, and description of the services provided as well as compensation for the services.

- Have you consulted with Procurement regarding your service purchase and have you have complied with the provisions of the University's Procurement Policy?

- If yes, proceed to the contract review process

Service Contracts
An agreement in which UPEI is contracted to provide a service for an individual, business or agency, and in return, UPEI will receive monetary compensation.
Next steps:
- Have you consulted with your academic or administrative head regarding overhead?
- Does your unit have a standard service contact template approved by the Risk Management Office?
- If yes, please use the approved template to draft a contract. Then proceed to the contract review process
- If no, a contract must be drafted. Please contact the office for assistance.
Research Contracts
There are various types of research agreements. Research Services can assist in selecting and drafting/reviewing an appropriate agreement. Several common research agreements are:
- Collaborative Research Agreement
- Research Service Contract
- Material Transfer Agreement (MTA)
- Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)
- Confidentiality Agreement
Funding Agreements
An Agreement for funding from an external organization that is not related to research, UPEI providing a service, or a donation. For donations please contact the UPEI Department of Development and Alumni Engagement.

Secondment Contracts
A Secondment Contract is an arrangement made between UPEI and another employer, detailing the temporary transfer of an employee from his or her duties.

MOU and Other Contracts
An agreement between two or more parties to work jointly on a project or towards a common goal. Normally, there is no money exchanged between the two parties.
