UPEI first university in Canada to take part in national project to eradicate HIV

The University of Prince Edward Island is the first university in the country to launch a project working to eradicate human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in Canada. I’m Ready to Know is an initiative of REACH Nexus, a national research group working on how to address HIV and other sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections in Canada. The project has targeted a number of universities, and UPEI is the first one to complete the contract and training and to offer services.

New Year’s Levee

The University of Prince Edward Island and the UPEI Alumni Association are hosting their annual New Year's Levee, and all are welcome to attend.

The levee will be held on Sunday, January 1, 2023, from 11:30 am–1:00 pm in the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering Building, University of Prince Edward Island, 550 University Avenue, Charlottetown.

We'll let you know what employers are looking for and what will help your application stand out against the competition, you'll make changes as we go to come out of the workshop with a resume that sets you up for success!

Introduction to Canadian Workplaces

Are you new to Canada? Have you not had a job before but are interested in finding work alongside your studies? Join our online session to learn the basics about work in Canada. We'll cover a bit about what you can expect and what will be expected of you in most local workplaces.

Registration is required through our Eventbrite page and space is limited. A link will be sent to all registrants on the morning of the workshop. Only UPEI students are eligible to attend this workshop.

Teamwork Workshop

The ability to work well with others is required in a wide variety of settings. This workshop will help you to develop strategies for better collaboration, which you can take into your coursework, volunteering, and jobs.

Registration is required and space is limited. An email will be sent to all registrants on the morning of the workshop with directions to the classroom space on UPEI campus. Only PEI Study and Stay and UPEI students and alumni are eligible to attend this workshop.

Dr. Jerry Wang recognized for service to the Canadian Bureau of International Education

Congratulations to Dr. Jerry Wang, director of recruitment and advisement and the International Student Office at UPEI, on receiving an award from the Canadian Bureau of International Education (CBIE) for his service to the organization. 

Dr. Wang served on the CBIE board of governors from January 1, 2018, to December 31, 2022, specifically the membership relations committee. He was an engaged board member who provided excellent leadership and valuable advice.

UPEI’s Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office provides valuable services and education, including mandatory course

UPEI's Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office (SV-PRO) is a safe and confidential space where students, staff, and faculty who have experienced sexual violence can obtain support. The SV-PRO connects people with services that are trauma-informed and suited to their individual needs.
