UPEI Panther student-athletes are looking forward to a full week of games at home and away from February 13–19.

The Bookmark and the UPEI Faculty of Arts and English department will host a celebration of author J.J. Steinfeld’s literary achievements and contributions to the culture of PEI, Canada, and beyond on Thursday, March 9, at 7:00 pm. The celebration will take place in The Carriage House at Beaconsfield, 2 Kent Street, Charlottetown.

Earlier this month—Black History Month—the Canadian Broadcasting Company named five people 2023 Black Changemakers for Prince Edward Island. Four of the five have connections to the UPEI community.

Students in the UPEI Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE) got the chance to meet with potential employers at the faculty’s inaugural Industry and Career Day held on February 2. 

The UPEI Faculty of Nursing in collaboration with the PEI Department of Health and Wellness held its inaugural Scrub Coat Ceremony on February 9, 2023, at the UPEI Performing Arts Centre in the University’s new residence building. The ceremony was a celebration and welcoming of 71 first-year undergraduate nursing students and 15 first-year accelerated nursing students.

UPEI physics student Liam MacNevin received a first-place Tindall/Steinitz Award in Research during the 2023 Atlantic Universities Physics and Astronomy Conference (AUPAC). The conference was hosted by Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia from February 3–5.

Recently, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) conducted a Q&A piece with Dr. Carmencita Lake, doctor of veterinary medicine alumna, Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island, and CFIA veterinarian. 

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) was a buzz of activity this morning as a new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner was lifted by crane into the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

UPEI and Health PEI are inviting consultants to submit proposals to assess and analyze PEI’s health system capacity to integrate medical learners from the University of Prince Edward Island’s Faculty of Medicine. The new Faculty will be offering a joint doctor of medicine degree with partner Memorial University.
