In an effort to cut down on printing and mailing costs, and improve services to employees, UPEI's Human Resources will be launching online T4 slips for the 2013 tax year. Online tax slips will be available, through Campus Login, to current and former employees, who received taxable earnings or benefits in 2013.
Online T4s are official tax slips accepted by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). However, CRA requires employees to give their consent in order to access their tax slips electronically. Your consent will be valid for all subsequent tax years. New employees can grant consent for online T4s after they have received their first pay cheque.
Employees who do not provide consent will have their 2013 T4s mailed to the address on file no later than February 28, 2014. Electronic T4s will be available sooner than the printed versions due to a lesser processing time.
The consent form can be accessed through Campus Login (https://secure.upei.ca/cls/login.html). Consent forms must be completed by January 31, 2014.
For employees who file their taxes electronically, printing the slip is optional. You will be able to read the values for each of the tax slip boxes online as you are completing your income tax return. You will always have access to slips under Campus Login should you need them now or in the future.
We hope to offer similar online service for T4A slips in the future, however, for the 2013 tax year all T4As will be printed and mailed no later than February 28, 2014.
As chair of the search committee for the Dean of the School of Business I am pleased to announce Dr. Juergen Krause as a candidate for the position.
Dr. Krause is currently a faculty member and Interim Dean in the School of Business. On Monday February 10 at 2:00 pm, Dr. Krause will make a public presentation. The presentation will be in McDougall Hall, Room 328 and all faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend. The topic of his talk will be "Describe your vision and fit for the position of the Dean of the School of Business at the University of Prince Edward Island."
The search committee welcomes feedback and requests that it be forwarded by email to vpa@upei.ca by Friday, February 14, 2014.
Sincerely,
Dr. Christian Lacroix
Interim Vice-President Academic
