On Wednesday, February 19 at 12:00 pm, UPEI's Dr. Ed MacDonald will present an illustrated luncheon talk entitled "Cradling Confederation: The Founding of the Confederation Centre of the Arts" at the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown. This presentation will introduce attendees to the story behind the Centre that is now celebrating its golden jubilee this year. Tickets can be purchased by contacting the Box Office at the Confederation Centre, http://www.confederationcentre.com/en/
More information on the presentation:
Fifty years ago this year, in 1964, on the 100th anniversary of the historic Charlottetown Conference, the Fathers of Confederation Memorial Buildings were opened in Charlottetown as a living memorial to Confederation's founders. The arts complex cost $5.6 million, and was cost-shared on a per capita basis by the federal government of Canada and the Dominion's ten provinces. How the complex we know today as the Confederation Centre of the Arts came to be is a remarkable, even improbable story, of converging trends, clever salesmanship, backroom intrigue, and audacious national vision.

As part of the UPEISU Sex Week activities, our aim is to broaden our understanding of what 'sex' is and how many possibilities there are to talk about this term! This is the first event organized by the new Student Diversity Office!
