Join us tomorrow (Wednesday) for “Tim Talk,” a presentation by Dr. Tim Goddard on the subject of “International Education: Global Life in Local Spaces.” The event will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the AVC Learning Commons, and will also feature refreshments and door prizes!
In this talk, Dr. Tim Goddard will address questions of internationalization on campus. What does an international education look like? How might domestic students globalize their degree? How can international students influence institutional life? What challenges face students, administrators, faculty, and staff who want to develop international awareness among all members of the campus community? Drawing upon the experience of the Faculty of Education as a case study, he will explore what an internationalized education might look like as well as the difficulties inherent in achieving such a vision.

On November 14, 2015, IT Systems and Services (ITSS) had a major unit fail during a planned power maintenance shutdown. This resulted in the interruption of network and wireless services across the campus. ITSS was successful in obtaining a replacement unit allowing most systems to be up and running as of November 15, 2015; however, there may be sporadic issues with wireless and some network connections throughout the campus over the next few days. Please contact the ITSS HelpDesk at (902)566-0465 or helpdesk@upei.ca to report these issues.

AVC hosts workshop about costs of pet ownership
With an estimated 14.5 million dogs and cats in Canada, we are having an ongoing love affair with our pets. We care greatly about meeting their needs in order to keep them healthy and happy. The benefits of having a pet are huge – loyalty, companionship, love and affection, improved health. Pet ownership is also a big investment in money, time, and commitment.
Dr. Heather Gunn-McQuillan, Director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Atlantic Veterinary College at UPEI, will give a community workshop titled “The Dollars and Sense of Pet Ownership” on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 7:00 pm in Lecture Theatre A. She will present information on the actual costs of caring for your pet including purchase or adoption costs; spay/neuter fees; vet exams and vaccinations; food and supplies (toys, treats); licensing and pet insurance costs, as well as the time commitment (exercising, training, feeding, play time).
Everyone is welcome. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served. For information, call (902) 566-0589, or visit avc.upei.ca.
