During the evening of Wednesday, January 23rd, 2019, IT Systems & Services will be making a change to improve the delivery of regular updates to Windows computers on campus. As a result, you may notice some increased Windows Update activity on your office computer over the coming weeks.

IT Systems & Services would like to take this opportunity to share some best practices with regards to the update process on your Windows computer:

1. Please never turn off a computer that is in the process of applying an update.
2. Please frequently save your work, as updates will require your PC to restart.
3. At the end of the work day, log-off or lock your computer instead of shutting down. This will allow updates to be installed while you are out of the office. If you are concerned about power consumption, the computer's power management settings will minimize power usage during this time.
4. When new updates have been installed, you will be prompted to restart your computer. This can be done at any time that is convenient for you, such as over your lunch break or when you leave at the end of the day.

If you have any questions or issues, please contact the ITSS Help Desk at helpdesk@upei.ca or 902-566-0465.
