Ethics protocols that involve ‘more than minimal risk’ must be reviewed by the full UPEI Research Ethics Board (REB). The next deadline for submitting these protocols is Monday January 7 2019. They will be reviewed at the January meeting. Protocols involving ‘more than minimal risk’ that are received after January 7 will be reviewed at the February 2019 meeting. 

Other ethics protocol submissions, including new applications that do not involve ‘more than minimal risk’, renewals, and amendments may be submitted at any time. They will be sent for delegated review as soon as all necessary forms are received.

How much time do you spend reflecting on your instruction? Would you like to do more? Why not start 2019 off with a commitment to become more reflective? In this workshop, participants will be provided with exercises to practice reflection daily over a 30 day period. This is a collaborative and social learning experience. Participants will share their own reflections and comment on the reflections of others. The workshop consists of two face-to-face sessions (January 8th and February 6th, 12:00-1:00 PM, Rm 292 Robertson Library) with the remainder of the workshop occurring online between those two sessions. Register early as space is limited for this event. REGISTER

Once again MHW will be hosting “Let’s Listen”, UPEI’s Mental Health Week Wrap-up event. We are looking for up to six members of the UPEI community (students, faculty, and staff) who would be willing to share their personal and/or supportive experience with mental health. You would be asked to speak for approximately 5 minutes in a safe, relaxed, and non-judgmental environment, and then engage in small group discussions with the support of professional staff as co-facilitators. You will have the full support of a representative from the UPEI Counselling Services to prepare and work with you throughout the presentation.

Dr. Stephen Howard is retiring on December 31st after 34 years of service to the University. The School of Mathematical & Computational Sciences invites the campus community to a retirement reception for Stephen on Tuesday, December 18th from 2 to 4 pm at Schurman Market Square, McDougall Hall. Light refreshments will be served.

Dr. Jason Hickey (UNB, Fredericton) will describe his experiences working as a nursing instructor and doing research in Qatar, a traditional Muslim country in the Middle East.

The Faculty of Education invites all to attend Amanda Brazil's public presentation of her PhD research titled:Everyone goes home: Exploring the implicit learning of critical incidents in the volunteer fire service.

Originally scheduled for Tuesday, December 18 at 9:30 am, the presentation has been moved up to Monday, December 17 at 2:45 pm in Memorial Hall 417 due to impending weather.
