Members of the UPEI community are invited to a workshop on practical approaches to communication and conflict with Dr. Cheryl Picard, a member of the Applied Communication, Leadership & Culture faculty, from 24 January at 6pm to 25 January at 5pm. The workshop is free, but participants are asked to commit to the entire event. Dr. Picard is a leading scholar and practitioner in the skills of mediation and conflict resolution. This is a great opportunity for students to learn from someone with training in criminology and social work, and to get better connected to some of the people in these fields. Space is limited and priority will be given to ACLC students, but after the RSVP deadline additional seats will be opened to other members of the UPEI community. Please contact student representative Katie Clark (keclark2@upei.ca) for more information. RSVP by 10 January, 2020.

Facilitators are the "keeper of the process" in organizational or community meetings, training or workshops. Many times leaders find themselves with subject matter expertise but have limited experience planning for and facilitating successfully. Facilitation skills are learned and mastery will help you be more comfortable and successful when called upon to facilitate.

In this hands-on workshop you will experience active process skills and leave knowing how and when to use them for success. A comprehensive overview of adult learning principles will be included and you will learn how to incorporate these principles for enhanced engagement of participants.
