Prospective Graduate Students
Entrance requirements include a BSc degree for the MSc program or a MSc degree or equivalent for the PhD programs. UPEI requires grades with a minimum average of 70% in order to consider an application. However, the Faculty of Science normally requires at least a 75%.
Very important: Before applying you MUST have a confirmed supervisor or your application will remain incomplete and will NOT be reviewed.
To find and confirm a supervisor, please review individual faculty webpages (see Potential Supervisors) and contact and discuss potential opportunities. Supervision entails time, space and financial support from a supervisor, so in our programs the Registrar’s Office or the Graduate Committee cannot assign or recommend supervisors. You need to approach potential supervisors directly.
Only once you have a confirmed supervisor you can apply following these steps:
- Ensure you meet the entrance requirements. International students should learn about visa requirements and language proficiency (for those whose first language is not English).
- Submit an Application to the Registrar’s Office. The form must be accompanied by official transcripts and an application fee. You must arrange to have two letters of reference and, if applicable, proof of English proficiency sent to the Registrar’s Office.
