The National Do Not Call List (DNCL) gives consumers a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls. 

As a consumer, you can choose to reduce the number of telemarketing calls you receive by registering your personal telephone number, including landline, wireless, fax or VoIP on the National DNCL. Register here.

It's hard to stop scam calls. but don't be afraid to just hang up. The police or UPEI will never require you to pay for anything with gift cards, and it's unlikely that you have won a European lottery or are fourth in line to a royal throne.
