Flag Half-Masting Notice: National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women, December 6
The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women, which takes place every year on December 6, marks the anniversary of the murders of 14 young women at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal in 1989. On PEI, we also remember the 10 women murdered in PEI since 1989 by someone who knew them, and the tragic number of murdered and missing Indigenous women and girls in Canada.
UPEI will observe the Day by lowering campus flags to half-mast.
To show support for ending gender-based violence, everyone is encouraged to wear purple and purple ribbons during the 16 Days of Activism from November 25 to December 10. The Purple Ribbon campaign runs November 25–December 10 (16 days)
