In a news release issued on Tuesday, the Province of PEI notified all PEI residents that a test is scheduled for 12:55 pm on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, on Canada's public alerting system, Alert Ready.

PEI residents can expect a test alert on their television, radio, and compatible wireless devices. The sound will simulate an emergency alert. In addition, radio and television broadcasters may use an audio version of the test alert message generated through a text-to-speech (TTS) software. The TTS functionality on wireless is managed by the device manufacturer and may be read to the recipient if the device supports this feature.

This is part of a routine and pre-scheduled national preparedness exercise. The alert will clearly indicate that it is a test, and no further action is needed.
